Is it possible to play any of the old Windows 95 CD-ROMs of Doom in Windows Vista? I've managed to pick up some ideas from the forum (e.g. using compatability tab- set as administrator, set OS: Windows 95) but I'm muddling about and am not sure exactly what to do. I keep getting an error message "This system does not support fullscreen mode". Can anyone tell me exactly what needs to be done- or is it not possible? Thanks.

Your best best would be to download a source port, such as ZDoom or Skulltag.
1) Extract ZDoom andor Skulltag somewhere 2) move DOOM2.WAD and any other compatible Internal WAD (IWAD) such as DOOM.WAD or PLUTONIA.WAD to the ZDoom/Skulltag folder 3) Run zdoom.exe or skulltag.exe. If you have more than one IWAD in the directory, ZDoom/Skulltag will ask you which game you want to run. 4) You may then proceed to the OPTIONS menu to set up Zdoom/Skulltag. |

With today's O/S's and hardware you have to expect older games and apps not to do what they should.
afaik, the only way around it is to either use a well known command emu called DOSbox and maybe a launcher for it, or a Doom source port engine like Kagemaru suggested. However there are several Doom source engines out there: http://doom.wikia.com/wiki/Source_port http://www.doomworld.com/classicdoom...php?platform=2 |
