While I agree Abyss isn't exactly a Doom community, even though we have a sort of in-limbo Doom community project going there, the users are still mostly Newdoom people. And I wouldn't really call it an argument forum, unless you only looked at the mindlas subforum (which really is just an excuse to be an idiot and let out steam).
Sad to see Newdoom is more than likely going to go though, but its members will live on elsewhere. Whether at Abyss or wherever else you decide to go. Maybe time to get NDCP2 out now as a final hurrah, edit one of the maps a little to include a Newdoom farewell area. Hmm, and there goes the idea for NDCP3... And don't say love to argue with rusty, you'll attract xgmx and his group of fags with their anti-terrorism parade. |

I really thank Phoebus, and really all of you guys who have really actually made a difference in my life. You're good bunch of guys. The most I remember on here were sharing photos and art, of course DooM mapping, which used to be a big interest of mine and now I have no time, and fixing computers! I really learn a lot from you guys. I'll probably remember FATAL, Aliotroph, Boingo, Sitters, Xerxes, Winston, Nomad, Acyclitor, Jimi, Mr. Rocket, rustyslacker, jetflock (and his crazy funny bollywood movies), and Doom Dude the most.
I think I joined the Abyss a long time ago after being asked by FATAL but never really went on there much. |

Indeed. This place has been a bucket of awesome and I've met a load of cool guys here. Thanks again, Phoebus!

First of all, I'd like to thank Phoebus for putting up with our shit for this long. I may still think he's kind of a dickhead, he really has provided us with a truly rewarding place on the internet to spend our time and call each other faggots.
Also, I appreciate everyone from The Abyss bringing up the offer for NewDoomers to migrate over, but I want to say a few things presently. First and foremost, as Fatal said, while we may look like a little tight knit group, we truly are open to any and all new members. We have all developed a great fondness for each other (Even though Fatal is often an arrogant asshat, I still <3 him anyway). We've done some nasty things to a few people, but whether it was unwarranted or not is certainly up for debate. All in all, we're a friendly community perhaps despite initial reactions. You'll find that we're a very laid back community with lax rules, preferring rather to give everyone the benefit of the doubt to behave in a reasonable and respectful manner, than to don iron gloves. Secondly, while I am 500% up for welcoming the NewDoom community over and would be more than happy to make accommodations for everyone to continue enjoying a community about their favorite game, however I don't think that Doomsday and Legacy would make the transfer. I myself own the domain, and Osiris and I went halfsies on the hosting. We've got (supposedly) unlimited bandwidth and space, but the service is a shared hosting plan, which I do not think would be the optimal situation for high traffic, and especially not for hosting big files (a la Doomsday) that would be downloaded in potentially high amounts. My concern mostly is of speed and efficiency. However, I'm sure that Doomsday and Legacy wouldn't have any problems finding homes elsewhere, if not on Doomworld then on their own. I wouldn't want to hold either of them back; particularly Doomsday since it seems to be quite popular, and potentially Legacy if Legacy2 ever sees the light of day. I briefly considered buying NewDoom off of Phoeb's, but I don't think I would be willing to sacrifice my time and money to it. |

While I agree that it's not the place for file hosting, I'd be happy to have dedicated official source port forums.
And I too thank Phoebus--even though we've often butted heads he's put up with a lot of my bullshit and accidentally introduced me to a few fine friends. |

It sure has been going on for a long time, and most of the folks here are lovely and interesting to discuss with.
I wish all here the best! And especially to those who kept everything going so well for so long!

It's not over until the last demon comes out of the teleporter.... and we all know hell is full of those bastards.

And there goes the best place on the internet EVER.
A shame really, but all things must come to an end, eventually. It's been a great ride, guys! I'm going to miss this place a lot. ![]() *1 minute of silence* |

That looks like it will cause an error.

Yeah, because there's no delay, so it'll be a never-ending telefrag fest. And I suppose missing semicolons don't help. Plus teleportation is handled by the teleporter, not the demon.

Firstly I would like to say massive thanks to Phoebus, Doom_Dude and the rest of the team. I've been hanging around newdoom.com for as long as I can remember, long before I got involved in the Doomsday project. This place and Phoebus in particular has been especially good to us and I just wanted to say that I do really appreciate it.
As for Doomsday, we are currently discussing where we'll go next. If anyone is interested there is a discussion on this very subject over at dengdevs. |

Bah! Stupid semicolons! Well, it was only the first build. There's bound to be errors some where (such as not even compiling :P).
Also, maybe I wanted a room full of demon goo? Eitherway, New Doom won't die .

Pity that all good things come to an end. I'll always fondly remember my time on here, particularly as these were the first forums I ever signed up to. Thanks to Phoebus and Doom_Dude for keeping this place going for so long.
