Many Segmentation Violation errors
I sometimes got Segmentation Violation errors with beta 5, but with beta 6, their amount has dramatically increased. Sometimes I can play 10 minutes without crashing, but sometimes it crashes every 30 seconds. I can't find any specific cause - sometimes it crashes when there are many projectiles and enemies and sometimes it crashes when I am alone running around somewhere.
I have Win XP, Athlon 2500+, GF 6200 GE, DirectX 9.c. I am playing DOOM2.WAD without any additional WADs. I am using the hi res graphics and 3D packages. Is this known issue? The game is now for me almost unplayable. Should I provide the crash log and config file? PS: At least the "Thing num archive exhausted" happens no more and saving is reliable. |

Does it still give the errors without the addon packs?

Hmm, I tested it for 15 minutes without any of them and it didn't crash. But the uglyness of the game hurts my eyes :P
I will try to investigate it further. |

I keep getting segmentation violations when using SDL for sound.
Using DirectSound gives no music at all, as you know. But the errors appear to stop in this case. So now i'm trying to figure out how to get OpenAL to work - even though the library is installed, I still get no sound. Hmm. |

It seems you were right. Since I changed it to directsound, the game didn't crash.
