[poems] Some Poetry... haha!
I haven't written much poetry at all.... maybe a dozen things all lost to time... mostly from school days. heh. I tried another go at it and came up with this. Thanks to my friend RoseWool for the encouragement... otherwise I may not be doing this at all. It certainly is an interesting and creative way to express ideas and such and a lot of fun, IMHO. I have since written more, will post again later. I seem to have forgotten to do the news... accck gotta go do that.
![]() All opinions are welcome. Freedom It is time. Rise and wake to the break of dawn. Taste the sweet morning breeze. Kiss the Earth with claw and scale. Launch off the face of the world. There is freedom In the wind. Ever soaring on ancient, supple wings. Up through the cloudy atmosphere. To escape the Earth below. The sun burns like a fiery beacon. Cascading golden light across the sky. Rise upward to touch the early dawn. Through northern mist and glowing cloud. Accelerate and burst into the void. Where the air no longer sighs. The Earth falls far behind. Consumed by the surrounding walls of darkness. Fly through the absolute cold. Driven by determination and desire. Towards the welcoming embrace of sol. Her fiery voice sings strong and true. Speed through the ether. Cascading particles like a crimson comet. Closer now the cold dissipates. Heat flows forth in waves of acceptance. Touch her glorious fire. Dive into the burning depths. Where time and pain are swept away. Scale, skin and bone turn to flame. Accelerate into the molten core. Rekindle the memories that await. Remember the ages gone by. Lives lived and loves long lost. Gone but not forgotten. Scattered across the heavens to be found anew. Burst out of the fiery heart with renewed vigor. Leave her fiery loving embrace. A shadow flowing through darkness. Into the arms of the universe. Traverse the multitude of stars. In utter freedom and awareness. Wait for the time when a new day will dawn. And the Earth will call you home... |

Here is another. Not much but it's the way things sometimes go.
Inevitable Walk into the street to visit the day. Cool winter wind blows across parked cars. The shadows of dawn emerge to touch concrete giants. There is someone there that was never there before. The glimpse and lure of emerald eyes. Like pools of molten shimmering stars. Walk towards or walk on by? Moments pass and choices are made. A faint touch and a soft whisper. Enraptured and caught in a web of attraction. Tangled and caressed without struggle. Enter the mind and touch the soul. Long lost friends meeting for the first time. Ideas and laughter shared and cherished. Walk together in halls of discovery. Love entwined and captured. Secrets revealed on paths of the past. Burdens unleashed in a deluge of shock. Extreme pain held above in crushing waves. Old wounds opened in a time of truth. Loss of words. Tears burn with knowing. Words walk through the minds eye. Burning a path of dread and fear. Pass through the deep shadows. Into peacefull fields. Where the long grass grows beneath a caring sun. Life goes on and time heals. The sun shines again sunshine. Come closer and laugh again. Hold onto caring and peace. Day turns to night and fades forward. Time stretches and loses the past. Fading quickly into the future. The silence begins with a missing word. Sentences drop onto the floor one by one. Swept away from the light of day. To be lost forever. Outstretched fingers barely touch. Tomorrow things will be further from reach. Realize that moving apart is inevitable. A force fueled by one. Unwanted by the other. Walk the silent street in the same direction. Never stopping long enough to say Hello. Run now and try to catch up. Obstacles arise to touch in unwanted ways. This is not a one way street. Where is your voice. It remains in clouds of silence. Wait but nothing happens. Slowly fading from view. Open the door and greet the emptiness. How did this come to pass. Move out onto the empty street and walk the other way. |

Usually I wait for somebody to post before posting again but nobody comes and that is fine. Editing a post and slapping everything there is messy in this context. Here is another. This one is for my friend RoseWool who has a great love for horses... I was going to make it a bit longer but that didn't happen. Maybe some other time...
Running Race like the wind across grassy meadows. Air gently flowing across mane and tail. Heart pumping with vigorous need. Steady hooves echoing across the hills. Touching the land with Equine wonder. Where cold water flows in secret streams. Dash forth with sure pounding legs. Muscles flexing with every breath. Alive with unleashed freedom. Untouched by man, bit and bridle. Run on a steady course. Chasing the setting sun. |

I like the dragon theme so I did another..
Battle Call The call has come on the wind. A whisper of war on horns of bone. Evil has arisen in the realm of man. Erupting like a plague of doom. Dragon kin muster and make haste. Sharpen claw and join the sky brethren. Seek the current with outstretched wings. It's time to dance with death. Stream and field rush by far below. Miles crumble with thrust of wing. Air rushes over scale, claw and horn. Together as one in a common cause. The challenge burns the mind. Eyes glaze with furious need. Swoop down through dark clouds of war. Into the eye of darkness below. Where dread and fear dwell in forbidden shadows. Dive through the turbulence and join the fight. Hit the enemy line with fire and steam. Good and evil struggle and fade. Burn the enemy, claw and bite. Taste the blood and burn it away. Bleed the flesh and crush the skull. Skin and bone turn to heated ash. Blown away by the winds of war. Sword blades flash with fury. Blade strikes the bone. Bone breaks and blood flows. Spear pierces the heart within. Ripped to shreds on steel violence. Screams of conflict in a well of hate. Crushed beneath boots of steel. A hand quivers from trampled death. Clutching at empty air and fading into oblivion. Drive them back and give them hell. A brother dies to blade and spear. Hit and eliminate the armored aggression. A sister closes her eyes forever. Crush them with the force of claw. A father falls from the sky. Deliver justice in waves of fire. A mother dies surrounded by steel. The enemy splinter and the battle is won. Ants of death crawl back to their holes. They're broken but the war is not over. Black smoke blisters the northern sky. Blood soaks the field of war. Bodies foul the fertile ground. The broken swords of hate will rust in silence. Time to wing back home again. Lick wounds and mourn the fallen ones. Sol has taken her children home. The fallen will rise again. In another age across the veil of time. Wait for the call on the wind. Rest and fade. Sleep. |

Of these four I find Inevitable the best and most thoughtful one. I really liked it. Well done!
I can't say I dig Battle call, but the rest are truly fine to me. |

Thanks Fatal! Glad to have your feedback in here.
Here is one that is supposed to show appreciation for the good women in the world and not those stuck up, bossy bitches that suck the life out of everything and then proceed to shit on it. Heh. So it's not a love song / poem or anything like that... but then again maybe I'm fooling myself. ![]() She She is the sunlight that streams down from the mountains. In dappled paths of distant memories. Where chaos becomes silent rivers of gold. She is the ember that glows and gives spark to life. In stone halls of shadow and possibility. Where danger is cast aside and swept away. She is the wings of freedom that envelop and protect. In misty woodlands of translucent lucidity. Where dreams are born on lazy summer days. She is the heart that beats like the drum of desire. In warm green fields full of wonder. Where nature thrives on the edge of vitality. She is the water that flows in waves of remembrance. In murky depths of conscience and light. Where love grows in earthly, mossy veils. She is the sand that shifts and flows. In arid domains full of peaceful essence. Where the sky flows forth on winds of change. She is the dream that sparkles on wind born waves. In watery places of solitude and destiny. Where the river kisses the meandering shoreline. She is the hand that heals with supple fingers. In ruined towers of mystery and twilight. Where pain walks across lines of tension. She is the kiss that rushes into the future. In stalwart castles made of starshine. Where hope dances amongst the cosmos. |

Here is another just threw together today. Thanks to RoseWool for suggestions in changing some of the sentence structure.
![]() The Dark Horse I am the dark horse. My hooves strike true and proud. I am the one who reaps the wind. I am the dark horse. No corral shall hold sway over me. I seek freedom wherever I roam. I am the dark horse. I've tasted the sun on my back. My mane whispers in the wind. I am the dark horse. I have seen you watching me. If I run, will you follow? Chase me if you dare. No one has ever caught me. Follow me now. Chase me along the water's edge. Where the sea tastes the sand. Come this way. Chase me across the sun stroked meadow. Where wild flowers reach for the sun. Follow swiftly now. Chase me down into the valley of dreams. Where the sweet, green grass grows. Run faster now. Chase me across the snow bound field. Where ice and frost rule the world. Race with me. Chase me across the forest floor. Where the leaves of autumn dance in delight. Your pace never falters. I thought you would turn away. Your heart races just like mine. I thought that you would chase another. Your hooves pound with the same persistence. I thought there was no one like you. Your whinny makes me smile. I will slow my pace for you. Come closer and tell me your name. Shall we trot as one? Together we will choose the trail. I am the dark horse. You make me stronger. I no longer wish to run alone. |

I nearly agree (!) with Fatal; "Inevitable" is my second favorite. Of the others, I like the language style used in "The Dark Horse", which gives a sense of animalistic simplicity. "She" might actually be my favorite, re-reading it. You display quite a command of language in that.

So those are the ones which I liked. The dragon ones and war ones seem a little power-metally, to be frank, but I look forward to reading more. Perhaps later I'll post a piece of my own. I like words too. Last edited by rustyslacker; February 4th, 2009 at 06:14 PM. |

This one is kinda weird but it just seemed to come out this way, so here it is. Some of the lines are parts of actual dreams...
![]() Dreams Sent off to sleep in the dark Drifting in and out like the tide Walking on filaments of the mind Silent energy sparking the imagination A broken tile with missing pieces Skeletons emerge from the dirt Tripping into a web of mystery Shift gears and ride the darkness Images develop and fade away Sometimes creeping in dark places A dog barks with a human tongue Walls crumble revealing new paths Taste the flame of strange visions A naked angel spreads ebony wings Push through energetic barriers Death flows into a lake of fire Rediscover an old lost friend A horse trots across the moon Change clothing in a blink of an eye Scan the threatening horizon Visions shift and change Falling out of short term memory Unconscious flowing symbology Ideas mesh and change direction Shape-shift into the wolf of creation A gigantic meteor burns the sky Dive through the chaotic slipstream Float out the twisted window Taste your blood and ruin the world Jump and dance on the clouds Wet kisses behind the abandoned school Smoke rises from the deepening water A corset binds in purple waves Laughter emerges across the street Pages of a book come to life Fantasy unleashed in the mind's eye Turn over and slide forward The day calls out for you Eyes shiver on drifting time The dream is over... |

Very nice, I like Dreams a lot.
I tried to write a poem the other day (I'd read a Stephen King poem that I thought was awesome and so feeling a bit inspired I figured I'd try my hand at it), and failed miserably.

Thanks Giftmacher. Sometimes I start and get stuck right away... takes a bit of concentration to get anything decent.
Keep trying.

Today another poem has arisen. Between my last poem before my birthday and now I have tried to write and failed on numerous occasions. Lately tho I have been forming this in my mind over the last several days... maybe even longer, which is due to me thinking about being strong for various reasons. I know that sometimes we all need to be strong. Like it or hate it, it's just my words that I feel compelled to put together....
Strength The tree stands tall and true Proudly touching the light of the sun With beautiful leaves that dance with joy Darkness may come but the sun will chase it away The rock does not falter Pressing down into the world With strength of body and soul Upheaval may come but the stone remains The earth gives the spark of life Fueled by the heat of the sun We are born, taste life and walk free To merge with others and live and learn I will not walk the dark path Sometimes I will stumble and fall I will stand again, strong and true No matter how many shadows are cast my way My heart sings the song of blood My eyes watch for the truth I have strength forged from life When darkness falls I seek the light Walk with heart, love and joy Seek that which is good in the world Touch somebody who needs a hand Be strong and give strength Together or apart the strong survive We touch others and give of ourselves Small deeds make a difference Be strong in yourself Stay true Always |

I actually thought my previous effort, Strength was pretty good and was happy with it. Well I still am, since I read it often and remember why I wrote it and I get something from that.
This one I'm not sure about, but I wrote it and here it is. It's certainly dark but it's a fact that everything fades. Fade A siren call echoes across time Long shadows beckon with dark tendrils Blood flows upon grass and stone Where life once grew in gardens of old Darkened leaves drop and crumble Waves erode the jagged shore The fires of paradise turn to ash In ancient halls now abandoned A sparkling diamond loses it's luster Pain blows cold through flesh and bone Time rushes past, leaving distant memories Where dreams die in blackened tombs Love is broken on rusty knives Burning tears scatter and bleed A star descends from the deepening sky Where the fallen angels dwell The stream becomes a silent trickle Hope falls into a bottomless pit A heartbeat stops and turns to silence On the paths of everlasting solitude The dream scatters across the murky sky Tracks in the sand are eaten by time A warrior falls beneath deadly blows Where lost heroes are forgotten forever Life flickers in the wind The veil between worlds entices Calling forth the fallen ones Into the light of the hereafter |

I wrote somefin. Not much but here it is.
Spark Standing in the light of the newborn sun I watch the world turn itself into tomorrow Revolving amongst the tide of beauty The distant stars shine with knowledge I have seen the light burn and diminish A constant struggle into the unknown With emerging flames of deep desire I have touched life and tasted pain Passing on slender wings into forever Down along the long and narrow path I will walk the road wherever it may wander Into the eloquent twilight of destiny The tender heart beats with longing Sometimes I can hear it sing my song In a far away place where love belongs Sweet laughter touches the vigorous mind I shall caress the morning and walk with you Where friendship grew with a single spark |

Im not really into poetry so I will refrain from commenting on the actual poems. It would be nice if, for ignorant gits like me, you added a couple of nice pics. Scenery or something, anything really so I (we) have an excuse to look here. We might even read the poems.
