Peter Jackson Not Doing The Hobbit Now

Everybody assumed that Peter Jackson would be the first pick on Newline Cinema's list to do The Hobbit BUT due to a dispute he has with Newline Jackson Won't Be Doing The Hobbit.
Quote:
Jackson, a devoted Tolkien fan, said he had been removed from the Hobbit project by New Line, who also hold the rights to a second Lord of the Rings prequel.
Personally I can see The Hobbit turn into a piece of crap now. I hope I'm wrong.

Well, we all know what happens to movies when Hollywood messes with this sort of thing. Unfortunately I fear that this will have already dug The Hobbit's grave.

Yeah Hollywood fucks up a lot.

Apparently they made over a billion dollars on the Lord of the Rings trilogy and Jackson is asking for $100 Million that they owe him, so they give him the heave and will probably replace him with some 'Uwe Boll' movie hacker type of director..

That is the most awful thing I've heard in a long time!

If they DARE to make a cruddy movie... <-- New Line Cinema

<vader>NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!</vader>

Well, no doubt that there are very low chances of it being as good as it would have been with Jackson behind the wheel, but hopefully they can find someone who can still make it work out well.

And yeah, the fact that he's going to work on the Halo movie but not this screams sellout indeedy.

Nomad, the Halo movie has been discontinued. Or something along those lines, but surely they'll pick it up again one day (what Microsoft would do for money).

I was sure Peter Jackson would be doing The Hobbit, but now that he isnt, I can see it turning into a right POS.

Aye, the Halo movie is (thankfully) on hold.

Quote:
GS: Can you give us a status update on the production and financing of the Halo movie?

Brian Jarrard: As was previously announced, the Halo movie is on hold at the moment, following the dissolution of our partnership with Universal and Fox. We don't have anything new to report on that front right now.

I just found out that Jackson directed Dead/Alive (Also known as BrainDead). Holy shit that movie was awesome.

That's a weird thing happening with directors these days. Peter Jackson and the likely extremely low budget for Dead/Alive, going on to direct those huge budget movies I'm sure we all know of by now. Sam Raimi starting off with the Evil Dead movies, and moving on to blockbuster huge budget movies like Spiderman.

That's crazy.

I guess we are now going to get another crappy George Lucas ... er ... I mean Lord of the Rings prequel.

Darn.

If there is ever a Halo movie, I hope it is based on Red vs. Blue.

As far as I know, he's only a executive producer on the Halo film and he's certainly not directing it.

Not it isn't. What do you think guys like George Lucas and James Cameron did?

They weren't making kickass low budget horror movies, that's for sure. They probably made shitty "art" films.

Wasn´t Spielberg´s first film something along the lines of a thriller with a mad trucker or something?.

George Lucas made "THX 1138" (an excellent sci-fi drama) and "American Graffiti" (an excellent drama). THX 1138 has always meant much to him, and he's often included references to that film later on. For example, Luke mentions a "prisoner transfer from cellblock 1138" in "Star Wars", and IIRC a license plate in "American Graffiti" says THX 138. Also, guess how George came up with the name for the THX standard. ;-)

I liked "The Hobbit" better than any of the LOTR books. Shame he won't be directing. I liked his previous movies.
