Hmm, it said on the Risen3D site that they would keep it running for a few more days, i didnt expect them to have shut it down already.

Its nice that you have made something like this, i'm sure people will find it useful. Although some of the download links dont work on it yet, but its only a new website so you cant expect everything to work right away.

Nice job

Thanks, I must recompile a lot of stuff, I do this alone so I need some time before all links are working.

A lot of people ask me for this, so i thinks lets do it.

Sitters - .nl does not stand for "No Laws". If you redistribute those binaries you must supply the source code too, otherwise you are in breach of the license. I don't see any source code links.

While I don't doubt that for one moment, perhaps you should think about why Doomworld removed the links from your post there.

No problem.

Maybe I release the source with every day one line of code.

That is not an option for you. The license terms state that you must release all of it.

Unoffical Dutch translation here -> http://users.skynet.be/xterm/gpld.txt
Read it, especially section 3.

Cant find this in the source :

Sure you can. Your looking for this file in ENGLISH -> http://svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/de...33&view=markup

It was in there before the fork, and even if you or your team members have deleted it, it still covers it.

I stop the discussion here.

I have an very old version of doomsday only found the ID licence, no GPL.

I opened this site for the people that like playing Risen3D, and like to have one of the greatest port of all.

I wishes you all people the best and an happy life.

It might be the greatest port... IF YOU WOULD RELEASE THE SOURCE! It can't be put any clearer. You are violating the licence by not releasing the source. That means Risen3D is illegal. If you release the source, we can end this discussion.

I forgot to delete my Risen3D installer file earlier. I will do it now.

Let me get this straight:

Graham wants all the Risen3d binaries to be removed.

Sitters goes against Graham's wishes and puts them on a new page.

Talk about stabbing your fellow team member in the back. Even ignoring the licensing stuff, this is morally bankrupt.

I see where sitters is coming from though, all the maps and models he's made there. And now nothing to run all of it.
What else would one do other than basically say "this is bullshit", you know.

But sitters if the Risen engine isn't legal without it's source released?, all you can do is host your maps and models.
Possibly down size them so maybe everything can work in Jdoom later?

Jdoom would be capable of running sitters maps, once he takes out Risen3D specific scripting and replaces it with (what he can) using Doomsdays XG scripting method. Come the full release of 1.9.0 and when the bias lighting system is mostly bug free, he can use that to make some nice looking maps and as i've seen, is easier to implement than dynamic lights, and will likely have less of a hit on the framerate.

Problem is if sitters converts them to jdoom now, there will be a fair number of older systems that may not be able to play them, because as sitters said Risen3D was the only port fast enough to handle his maps at a smoother framerate, and i know that on my old PC i couldnt get jdoom running past 30fps normally.

The next release of The Doomsday Engine will surprise you then. It even runs Alien Vendetta map 20 at a decent speed now.

That indeed does sound impressive, I wish i still had an older PC that i could test out beta5 on when it comes out, as it is now i dont have any framerate probems on AV map20 with my current PC, and i've already gotten rid of my old parts so i cant test it out on my old configuration.

What about AV map25? Is it possible to increase performance on maps such as that, or is it simply not possible to hold a smooth framerate with 300+ monsters on screen at one time? And so i dont have to make a new thread to ask something so simple, is there a command to turn off vertical sync in OpenGL, so its not capped at 60fps?

So then release the damn thing and move on, but that would be an very bad idea without getting permission from who ever made the source code.
Did you asked for permission to put risen3d back online again, btw your thread on doomworld got helled as well.

I have full permission of the Risen3D author ( Graham), to make the site.

No problem it did goto hell, they only can flame there.

Edit : In the near future there also comes an mirror site.

Does anyone have some proper reason why the source code hasn't been released?

If it's all just because the author doesn't want to admit that he has stolen some code, then I guess it'll have to do as an explanation, although that would have to take a damn arrogant and selfish person to not admit that he has used someone else's code.

I just can't see the benefit with keeping the source code at home or the loss with releasing it.

As I said, this is all a huge concentration of idiocy.
