Ok now everyone make a Legacy.exe shortcut, place it on your desktop then apply these changes to it :

Legacy.exe" -opengl +connect 68.58.14.183

Run that to connect with a single click, as long as the servers running you should connect.
If you dont have a video card that will render opengl, then remove the -opengl part.
Ofcorse your Doom2.wad will need to be in your legacy directory for this shortcut to work.
Name the shortcut something like Legacy netgame.

Most likely to format your hard drive :P... But itÂ´s a nice idea, if we had permanent servers you could create several shortcuts and stack them in a folder.

Legacy will compare the Iwads and if they aren't absolutely identical it'll boot you with a consistancy error. This keeps people from cheating with hacked wads.

Well for the most part the servers been running pretty steady a little over a week now, and I'll try to keep it permanent over the weekends. so a shortcut to connect to it really would be worth while, heh I'm using one just like it to connect to my server thats running right now

Ok good, all should be the same, although I'll only have the server running until around 6pm this evening.. - I'm gonna be using my server/laptop as a getto style recording studio until late tonight, then I'll hook it back up as a server when done.

Someone seriously needs to make it known that if you run an internet server, you need to allow Legacy.exe in your xp firewall settings, and if routed make sure to forward port 5029 upd in and out.. if not your server might be visible on the server stats page but no one will be able to connect to your game.
So make sure to check in to that people. you'll be wasting your time otherwise. :\
Reason I bring this up is well, on a daily bases there seems to be a good handful of servers reported but no one can connect to them..

This stuff has been said in the faq doc's but not the part about xp's firewall, or any 3rd party firewall. it needs to be mentioned in the faq to allow the exe and or port # aswell..

As said, I'd rather see more than 1 player connect at a time. its like a player an hour or something over here. I might play I might not.
The best way we could do this is to have yee whos posting in this thread connect at a given time! and you guys frag each other. then I'll jump in later to rape the winnah

If you want I could make one (I bypassed my router and it is plugged directly into the modem now)

And if you can't join it then say so!

It will be called conorkirk with doom shareware (yes i kno, I dont have the more fun doom 2 srry!)

E1M1 If you have a better idea for a mutliplayer map then say so!

MAP03, E1M2, MAP31, and E2M2 are good multiplayer maps.
