Doom graphics

To subjects really:

First, I made a red Doom2 font for use with Bitmap Font Writer. It's already transparent and uses the Doom palette. Makes building map name graphics very easy.

http://numerometria.com/D2RBFR.zip (18Kb) This has 3 Doom fonts: large red, large silver, and small silver to match CWILV graphics.

(The "." and "( )" don't work as I don't understand the ASCII code BFR uses, but all the numbers and letters work.)

Second, I am wondering if anyone has, or can make me a .bmp of the 256 color Doom palette?

Since I am not very sophisticated, and just use Windows MSPaint to make new textures and such, it would be really cool to have the complete palette to pick colors from, and I cannot export it as a bitmap, only as .pal.

Foolishly, I took a screenshot and converted it with another program, applying the jasc palette. After several hours of pixel by pixel painting, I isolated 185 colors, but I want the whole thing.

Please help if you can.

Thanx

you can easily make a bmp pallette using the now abandonware PC PAINTBRUSH. if you don't have photoshop for doom editing, this is the next best thing.

Thank you jetflock. I will try that and see what it can do. If it works, then I'll be able to post a .bmp with all the proper Doom colors.

I think this would be very useful for those of us who don't have ( or know how to use! ) those sophisticated image editing tools.

Edit:
I could not find this program. One link said it was "Imageforge" which I downloaded several months ago and never tried.

Opening this for the first time, it seems there are many more tools I could use, but I could not find any way to export the Doom bitmap. I need more help.

Edit2: You know? If you could tell me how to do this it would be a big help.

I'm not quite sure, but would just extracting some sprite or texture from doom create a bmp with the correct pallete?

One thing I discovered is that the palette really only has 249 colors, so I wasn't as far away from complete as I thought. Still no idea why some of the colors are duplicates.

I tried saving the palette as a bitmap, but Paint wouldn't let me do that. I did finish this by going through each color of the palette and copying the RGB values, then entering them one by one to paint a square of each. What a pain! The complete .bmp is available here at the bottom of my XWE tutorial:

I didn´t know about that little program, but it´s lovely . Thanks also for sharing your fonts since it will make life a lot easier in the intermission screens ... I wonder where I can get more bitmap fonts... Also I saw the Doom palette uploaded somewhere, maybe in the Legacy´s editing resource, but it´s a little too late for that, isn´t it?.

Can't you just open up XWE, and go into the image editing bit, and print-screen the palette?
