Vavoom Skyboxes
Is there a fix for this?
EDIT: I know that Vavoom has trouble with skyboxes but the screenshot shows a Vavoom specific addon with it's own skybox and as you can see it looks great. So why do the darn lines still show? Last edited by CtrlKeyEmAll; January 12th, 2005 at 10:16 AM. |

This looks like the textures are not properly clamped to their edges. This happens if a program was developed with older NVidia drivers which didn't do this properly.
In newer NVidia drivers there is an option to restore the old incorrect behavior but if this is what I suspect it should be fixed in the code. |

@janka: You don't see the lines when you play Silent Steel or just regular Doom without the addon? I got an nVidia GeForce FX 5200.
@Tiealk: Ya but I don't see the lines when playing just Doom 2 without an addon loaded, they are there but harder to see. EDIT: Actually I should correct myself, the new Vavoom v1.16 works much better on skyboxes when playing just Doom 2 without an addon and you can't see the lines. Only when you look straight up you can see the sky coming together at the top like the inside of a pyramid or something. Like I said when I play Silent Steel the sky is included in the download and it looks great but then I see the lines. Last edited by CtrlKeyEmAll; January 13th, 2005 at 08:35 AM. |

No, it isn't. I had the same problem once and was told on the OpenGL forum that GL_CLAMP is really supposed to clamp to the border. To avoid this you have to use GL_CLAMP_TO_EDGE instead. Older NVidia drivers got this wrong and that's probably the reason for this misconception. |

Right it's GL_SGIS_texture_edge_clamp extension that has been added to core specification in version 1.2.
BTW @CtrlKeyEmAll, do you have the same problem with Direct3D renderer? |
