I don't know much about the New ones but, I had an old one that really did a nice job, 3DFX Mosnter card. IMHO It would be worth buying if I could return it if it did do what it clames.

The 6600 series is, what the MX and the lower FX series was for the GF4 and 5. It's neither the fastest, nor the slowest card, and provides a good price/performance relation.
What I'd like to know: Which graphic cards are you using right now in your pcs? |

In the computer with 768 mb ram I have a Geforce FX5200 ultra (128mb)
and in the one with 512mb ram I have a Geforce 4 MX440 (64mb)

Then I'd replace the FX5200 with a 6600 and the MX440 with the FX5200.

well the 6600 is pci-E, I recommend getting a FX 5900 or a radeon 9700 Pro from newegg, tigerdirect or that site you were looking at. It will do you just as good, if you play older games that are more or less filrate limited then get the FX series but if you play games that emply pixil and vertex shaders then get the radeon 9700 pro or 9800 Pro (get the one with 256Bit memory interface or you'll be sorry)
Either that or you can wait till the 6200 series cards come out inAGP (which are faster thent he FX series, especially in DX9 games). First off tell us how much you have to spend. Also search for AGP cards not pci (legacy) or Pci-E. |
