Vile Flesh, Doom Legacy version, is released

Merry Christmas to you all and your family!
As a gift, I offer to you my Doom Legacy version of Vile Flesh , originally created by Gwyn Williams (and also FragPort, by Stephen Clark, and R2WolfII by Scott's brothers).
I said that I'll release it on 25th December...

I''m pretty sure that some bugs will appear here and there.

WARNING:
It seems that Doom Legacy has 2 remaining very annoying bugs:
1) the first one is to don't save the Fragglescripted lightnings within the saved game file, which means that, for example, if you save Map29, you'll see the fragglescripted effects on the lightnings of the very first Fragglescript ever used, which is here the one of the Map24. On Map27, one lighing was green and bright. On Map29, I changed these values in order to obtain a less shiny light, colored in grey yellow. Once reloaded, the saved game will have the bright green color!!!
2) Some triggers don't work properly sometimes, and finely some other times... On Map23, there are 2 fences, moving up and down depending of your decision to close or to open the corridors, when you have the red key. I had a saved game with the impossibility to activate them, and another one working perfectly well. Gwyn had to suffer of this same bug.
Another example of this bug: on Map27, there is a transparent elevator, activated by a red button. It's working perfectly well for me, but Gwyn had the impossibility to activate it.

All of these bugs will be corrected for the Doom Legacy C++ version. So, until its release, you'll have to live with them...

Anyway, everybody knows thet a good player don't save his game before the exit, heh?
That said, when you will reach the level 23, which is the last one not using Fragglescript, I suggest to save the game once you will be at the exit point, and to NEVER save your progression while you are not at the exit point for the next levels.
Always save your game at the end of the levels, and never before, otherwise you will have wrongly fragglescripted lightings!!!

Sweet map, Jive. I've been playing it all of today. For some reason the map design seems filmiliar... hmm...

"Familiar", sorry about the misspelling...
As if I had played something similar to it in the past, or as if it the kind of map I would design myself.

I´m still through the old version so I won´t comment until I play the Legacy one... Anyway, I´m gonna do a little exception and play it without finishing the old version. I´ve got it in my computer so I´ll do it .
Got a question for you, by the way. Do I need to use all those .deh files inside the docs folder???. I remeber VileFlesh having a .deh file which is not into the Legacy version so... What do I do?.
By the way, did you took a look at the wads I sent you?.
Expect my comments as soon as I finish it but... Well, I will not be able to compare your work with the original.

I have the use to incorporate the needed deh file within the pwads, so you don't need to worry about it. I put it in the "Doc" folder to let you have the possibility to look at it, nothing else.
About your own stuff, it seems that something wrong happened with my anti-spam tool, but this kind of problem must be debated on PM...

Damn!. This Vileflesh is putting me through SERIOUS trouble!. I´m only in map 6 or 7, the labs... Loads of chaingunners and revenants make the level almost impossible to win without saving (shame I don´t like to save in these kind of megawads :P)!!!. As far as I see, the original levels are cool and, having not played the original I don´t know what to say about the conversion. Anyhow, Gwyn Williams knew what "Ultra-Violence" means when doing these levels!. Sometimes, the difficult of them is just too hard, unbalanced. I´m thinking about switching autoaim and crosshairs on or I will never win in these levels!.

What do you say?!?
I didn't touch at the gameplay, nor at the level of difficulty, nor at the number or quality of the monsters!!!
My work is only graphical and architectural.
So, the difficulty has NOT been changed!!!

Please Jive, do not misunderstand me . I never intended to say that!. I mean, if you read the post you will se that I wrote "Gwin Williams knew what ultra-violence means". So, I just said that it´s damn difficult for me and never wanted to say that you changed ANY setting of the gameplay itself. I´ve followed the development of the Vileflesh Legacy version through its thread, looked at the images you set up and well, I didn´t know what Vileflesh was about but knew that your aim was to do architectural and graphical enhancements ´cos you wrote it.
Hope I have not offended you or Gwin with that comment, it was not my aim. I just wanted to let people know that I find it difficult.
That said, I´m through level 11 and I´m really enjoying it . Good work.

Difficult?!?
Nah!!!
Not easy: yes! I have the use to play without auto-aim, but with a crosshair.
And I'm absolutely not offended.

The crosshair makes absolutely the difference I think. I started to play VileFlesh without it and well, in large areas chaingunners made prey of me ´cos I wasn´t able to hit them. I´m getting into playing without crosshair now, in level 12 but if I ever find myself in serious trouble again I will turn my crosshair on.
Of course, this only reflects how a bad Doom player I am.

I don't think so! Playing without a crosshair must be a pain! Personnaly, I have always found that chainguners were too much efficient...

Well, i liked it; I've never been a fan of colored lightning but in some places it looks cool. Slow on my computer i have now (Compaq Presario 7453, CPU is an AMD k6-2) but looks good anyway. I have to run it on 320x200

I'm just on level 5, i still have to look to those fragglescripted levels... But looks good by now.
