OK, so as the regulars here know, I've been working towards joining the Royal Navy for the past 8 months. Well today was the day the last step was taken in my recruitment phase, the PJFT (Pre-Joining Fitness Test).
The task was to run 1.5 miles (2.4KM) in under 12 m 20 s. If I did this the next step would be me being sent down to HMS Raleigh for my 8 weeks basic training. Well anyway, good news is I PASSED!!!! I ran it in roughly 10m30s and boy did I feel it afterwards, with sweat pouring off me for the first time ever. So I'll be getting a letter from the AFCO (Armed Forces Careers Office) to tell me when I'll be off some time next week I'm guessing. Don't worry though, I was told I may not be off until March but the chances are I won't be and it'll be longer to wait, but I don't care TBH i'm too happy. I'll keep you updated. Well the boards needed SOMETHING to brig hten it up as of late.

A bit under two and a half kilometer in a bit over 12 minutes doesn't sound very tough, as you probably noticed after the test.
Since I posted here, I suppose that I'm forced to congratulate you. |

It doesn't sound tough, but you do need some training to acheive it. I am a runner myself and could probably do that pretty easily. My 2-mile time is 10:58, but I've been running for a while, and am still no where near the fastest group. My older brother got two miles in just under 9:00. But for people who don't run all the time, that isn't a time you can just go out and run. It does take some training and effort to achieve, and it takes a lot out of you when you finish.

Look not meaning to sound mean but my brother has been working really hard for this and the last thing he needs is people saying that he has only achieved it because it was easy.I'm happy and this is the best news I've heard in a while in my family. Believe me the hardest stuff is yet to come. |

Yeah come on guys. Enough saying you can do it. this thread is about ME celebrating passing my last test, not whether you can do it quicker or someone you know can. And considering it was on a treadmill things tend to be different. I couldn't adjust the speed or whatnot accordingly, one set speed. outdoors I'm faster. Now enough of this. The thread's already nearly dead.

Nah, that wasn't my intention, sorry if you got that expression.
One thing bothers my mind though. Now that you passed through the test, does this mean that we won't be seeing you as often as usually? Good luck with the future job. |

Congrats Ninja. I don't care if it was or wasn't tough, it's just good that you passed.

Congrats on the achievement, Ninja
Dunno if I could run 2 miles under 12 minutes. I'll have to check that on the run machine tomorrow morning
