What Books have u read and enjoyed.
Im not sure if this topic has been started or not, I did do a search...but it seemed to show every topic...I dunno.
Anyways I was just curious what types of books everybody is into reading. I myself enjoy scifi / fantasy books. I've read the whole "Wheel of Time" series by Robert Jordan, Ten books in that series, with book Eleven coming out sometime soon. Also read 5 of the 8 books of the "Sword of Truth" series by Terry Goodkind. And, I read the Ender's series by Orson Scott Card, which began with "Ender's Game" - an awesome book btw. Those are probably some of the better books that I've read...anybody else? |

Im not a big fan of fantasy or sci-fi although I really enjoyed asimovs foundation trilogy and arthur c clarkes 'a childhoods end'
Im more into non-fiction for my reading, mostly history type books, art books and biographys or investigative, dirt uncovering, conspiracy type things, memoirs of ex directors of the CIA, that kind of thing. My favourite book would have to be 'the call of the wild' by Jack London or 'back to methusela' by George Bernard Shaw. *edit* I forgot all about 'the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy' trilogy by Douglas Adams, some of the cleverest, funniest sci-fi ever written.

Yeah, hitchhikers guide to the galaxy was a good book. I like reading upon non-fiction as well, anything with mysteries or suspense books is a plus for me.

I should borrow that one from ex-cute and read it.
Asimov's Foundation novels were a really good read. He expanded that trilogy into seven novels before he died.

Its being made into a movie, with john malkovitch. it started as a radio series on the BBC, was made into a game(text adventure) and a series of books and a television mini series, which was faithful and is a classic.

Anybody read The Silmarillion? It's Tolkien's prelude to LOTR and The Hobbit, and explains much about the history of people like Gandalf, Sauron, Elrond, and Aragorn.
The first 50 pages or so are a tough read, but it gets terrific after that, full of intrigue and adventure and tragedy. I've probably read it about half a dozen times, and each time I read it with fresh anticipation and enthusiasm. |
