Got a question?
First, check out the Doomsday Engine Wiki. If you can not find the answer you seek please search these forums (the search tab is at the top of every page). If that fails aswell then by all means post your question in correct sub-forum here on the Doomsday part of the forum (i.e this part of the forum) and hopefully someone can help. As I've had a few comments from Metal Sonic and others that people don't see the help post in the FAQ forum so I've copied it here and done an update. If anyone has any suggestions for this thread post them here and I'll update the top post.

I seem to be having a problem downloading these files, from here or directly on the websites. I keep getting this message;
"521 Illegal PORT Command" What can I do? |

On every link? If so I'd say it's a problem with your computer.
Try copying the address of the links, then pasting it into your address bar.

So far i've done that, and no luck. I have no idea why it's giving me that message, the only links that do work are the first two, but every other one gives me that strange message. I downloaded JDOOM earlier, I just want to get the latest 3d packs and enviroment packs. But oh well, I could stick with the usual stuff. Anyways I am using one of those anti-virus programs, could that be it? |

The links seem to be working perfect now, I wonder if it was my computer or something with ftp? Either way, it works now. And I downloaded a bunch of em.

jDoom Texture Pack (Doom 1)
jDoom Texture Pack (Doom 1) Hi-Res texture packs, bandwidth donated by Gish) "hosted on jfiles now" jDoom Quick Links A site linking to various resources "now 'doomsday xtra links' at ddayxl.jfiles.org" And there is no link to jfiles you could even throw in info about doomsdays irc channel

I must admit, JFILES is the best doomsday source place so far imho.. And it's great how easy you can login to the doomsday channel and you don't even need an irc proggy for it (Kudos to the great web based irc client)
Now for some reason I get Connecting... Unable to connect : java.net.ConnectException : Connection refused: connect But I believe that's just some temporary error.. What I think would be a great addy to Jfiles, would be that people at Newdoom.com would be able to add request files, (provide information about files etc) I know this already exists a bit with the textures, but this is more "everything" and we could have some "request, add this information ", Stuff like that, and the whole community could add to it getting better, however I would think it should stay very clean too, because too much information tend to get "Bleeding eyes" :/ |

I must agree with Kurikai on this, since he's the one who has all the trouble of hosting mostly everything Doomsday related. This man deserves his name on the hostings.

Flats are floors, the base package is for the wall textures, the doom 1 package is for all the additional doom 1 textures not in the base package, and so is the final doom one, but for final doom...

Hi.
I'm new here obviously, and not that adept in computer editing/modding. I just recently downloaded the Doomsday engine for my Doom games, and have that working fine. I used this thread, and the link to the JDRP to download that because I thought that it might improve the look of the game. I am not sure if that is the most up to date one or not, but I installed it in the Doomsday folder, and then went to the addon tab in Snowberry when I installed it. I started the game and I can really see no difference over the way Doomsday made it look in the first place. I know it must be annoying answering to someone who knows so little, but I really love the games and would like to improve them. I didn't want to make a new thread, but I will if no one answers here. Any help to get this working would be appreciated. Thanks. ~Kiva |

Thanks man! That worked..I guess I just got the wrong info before. Looks really awesome now..hehe. One more question...will the hi-res textures that I saw as a download work with that installed or are they incompatible? Thanks!

no problem! the hi-res textures can actually work without the jdrp file. The jdrp file allows you to have 3D models and effects.
