Does anyone know how to configure ZDoom to WadAuthor. I downloaded the .wcf file and I configured it with Wadauthor BUT it doesn't work. It says I have all the features/extras but when I save it I keep getting a unknown special in sector ...
Also I was told by the Deepteam to configure ZDoom in order to save larger levels since you apparently can create levels and not have to worry about the 'stock' of the level and I could really use it. Please help me if you can. Thanks.

ZDOOM has TWO modes - stock DOOM format and HEXEN format.
You DO NOT need the modified wcf file for the stock format. In fact, it won't work ![]() If you do want to use the HEXEN format (not recommended for starting out), you need to convert your level to the HEXEN format and convert the DOOM2.WAD also to HEXEN format. Then you need to edit the wcf file to point to the converted IWAD file. The program that does this is ZWADCONV, part of the ZDOOM utilities. Be sure to download beta 33 though. http://zdoom.notgod.com/ftp/ |

I tried everything you said I cannot get it to work. I attempted to download the beta 33 version and I got an error.
Then I downloaded the ZDoom 122 and that did not work. Then I downloaded the Wadauthor .wcf file and configured it to Wadauthor and then it seemed to work but when I saved the level I still go the save game buffer error and the glitch in the red key area. THEN I downloaded Boom and itÂ’s .wcf file for Wadauthor and those seemed to work but like ZDoom it didnÂ’t. I think that all this stuff is just a bunch of confusing crap that is a waste of time (sorry if that seems mean) but I am just totally confused and at the same time pissed off. So I think IÂ’ll just delete the whole god damn sector and maybe... Just maybe it will work. Oh wait no... IÂ’ll still get the save game buffer error.

Trust me, that level works fine in ZDOOM. There is skill setting issue in beta 33, not a biggie.
I have a feeling you are not running ZDOOM, but instead still using DOOM95. You have to execute ZDOOM.exe From the Start menu, select run and type c:\ZDOOMdir\ZDOOM.exe -file black.wad -iwad c:\doom2\doom2.wad Fix drive letters and directories to match your system. Black.wad is you level, doom2.wad is wherever the DOOM2 IWAD is located I'm pretty sure that level also works in BOOM (99.999999% sure) and PRBOOM (100%) and any other port that copied the basic BOOM code. |
