Try XWE. Lots of people are saying how goods it is for doom editing. Never tried it myself but its better than pakexplorer because that's for opening pak files. There are no pak files in Doom. Hope this helps ya.

DeePsea has purpose built tools for specific tasks. This separation of function makes it easy to keep focus and not get confused
![]() 1. press F7 2. select EXPORT lump to a file 3. on the left side select Sounds (uncheck the rest) 4. press Show Types Selected (So now all you see are the sounds. If you didn't filter, then everything is available for export) 5. Export one or many sounds at once. To export all the sounds as WAV at once, enable Grouping then press Select ALL, now press WAV. To select any combination at once, use the standard Windows convention of Ctrl+Left Mouse click and select the sounds desired. All this has no limits even in the shareware version. As always, press the Help button for detailed help on what I just wrote here. www.sbsoftware.com/files/deepsea.zip |

There are a few FREE utilities to do this which are all excellent for what you want to do, NWT (new wad tools) Wintex and XWE. If you cant find them email me and I will send you a copy. For XWE see the news story on the Newdoom.com page.
Im suppose I should put this sort of thing on my Doom pages, maybe this week. ------------------ Creator of 'The Mummy Phuquers' series of Doom wads. Creator of 'Wet Phannys' 'Phannies Galore' 'Minge' the 'Grail' series, the 'Mystic' series also creator of ANDYDM1.WAD (my favourite) So long and thanks for all the fish (hitch hikers guide to the galaxy) http://www.gtroad.net |

I always am amused at the "free" comments. What exactly does "free" have to do with the original question? Answer: Absolutely nothing.
DeePsea lump manipulation Tool are "FREE". You don't have to register to use it for ANYTHING you like. Easier, STABLE, fast, well tested, well DOCUMENTED and lots of safety checks you won't find anywhere else. All for FREE. Merges multiple PWADS (as many as you like) with TEXTUREx PNAMES and patches too! That means that any new TEXTURE names and patch PNAMES are automatically and CORRECTLY merged. So you can automatically combine just about anything. NOTHING else does this. P.S. Wintex screws up merging 2 and is a bitch for the new ports. Just merge DOOM and DOOM2 and see what you get with Wintex NWT is just archaic, sort of like using any DOS editor ![]() Where's my email? LOL |

DeeP_Dude, it's nothing against your product. Just probably people don't want anything that's shareware sitting on their hard drive. Well, if it will make you feel better, I use DeeP for all my wad extracting needs.

Thanks everyone, but im not a hardcore doom fan these days, i play half life TFC, although i -do- remember myself playing countless hours of doom and wolf3d 10 years ago. Deepseas, your program is cool... thanks for the instructions, normally ppl would say to just download a program... i like when ppl can tell me about it before they send me somewhere - anyway, thanks to everyone else that has contributed to my thread... im sure other ppl are viewing it and checking out your sites too - um, what else? oh yea, i got all my sounds and midis out and im thinking about doing quake/quake2 now - thanx... funker-x!

I have a couple of suggestions for deepteam that may make DeePsea more friendly to some (these aren't necessary or urgent):
1. Multiple interface modes for those who are too lazy to learn new methods (mostly for drawing stuff). This is one of those things that even I don't really want anymore. 2. Different coloured surfaces in 3D mode. I think it would be easier to use if all the walls had some shading or different colours. They wouldn't blend. Don't worry about the "FREE" comments. Mystic just has a little bit of a grudge methinks. It would be nice if it was free though because I can't send money over the net. ------------------ "Killed Aliotroph?" - obituary from Perfect Dark |

1. Multiple interface modes for those who are too lazy to learn new methods (mostly for drawing stuff).
---------------------------------------- Not sure what you mean. I'd appreciate a more detaled explanation either here or please email me (if this is not what you meant). You can start drawing various ways. Keyboard ctrl+D or mouse double left click. The floating Toolbar method is maybe the easiest to learn to start drawing or create prefabs? For relaxed editing I prefer the Toolbars ![]() The Windows editors all use a "dialog" style. DeePsea varies from them all by using dynamic auto focused popups for the categories/types. They are very fast to select from. Listboxes are easier code and that's why you see them in the other editors, but clumsier to select from. I borrowed that from DEU. (Did you mean a listbox style?) Another style consideration is a larger configurable Toolbar (like the little ones now) that would have a whole bunch of commands on it at once, the width of the screen (or the height). But any "optional" configurations means one has to read the help. That will only lead to more "complicated" comments, when the actual operation of DeePsea is as simple or simpler than any other editor - just ignore the options ![]() ---------------------------------------- 2. Different coloured surfaces in 3D mode. I think it would be easier to use if all the walls had some shading or different colours. They wouldn't blend. ---------------------------------------- I totally agree. That was just a quickie. You can change the colors though. Press F1 while in the display and see the commands. Example, Ins/Del cycles colors. Someday will do a textured display. When I get in a "math" mood

It's called PayPal, and if the price of your product was only $5, all I would have to do would register, get my 5 free bucks, and then buy your product. Then rerregister for any update.

I knew about the colour change. I got confused when looking at what I had made though. I figured you had more plans for that one.
What I meant about interfaces is the option to have a drawing mode that works like BUILD. That editor kicked the crap out of anything I saw for DooM. I could plot sectors rediculously fast when I was half-asleep and drunk. Do you have customizable keys? ------------------ "Killed Aliotroph?" - obituary from Perfect Dark |

DeePsea is written in "sea++" from "Seattle" (abbreviated "sea". OK, lame little coder joke.
Saw a boat this summer what was called "Sea++". Hey, I said to myself, bet you 100 to 1 that guy is a coder. And SHE was. She said everyone was totally confused about the little "++" signs. They thought they understood the Sea part

Damn. I'm trying to find out how to scroll portions of windows in VB. I found a cheap way to scroll tiles in my map editor (not for DooM) but I want a smooth scrolling way (I also need it for the game engine).
There's something called a Multipage control, but I can't figure out how to add one to my project. ------------------ "Killed Aliotroph?" - obituary from Perfect Dark |

What I meant about interfaces is the option to have a drawing mode that works like BUILD.
------------------------------------------- Well, the way the BUILD engine works is totally different from DOOM. No sidedefs and all that stuff - meaning the editor could be rock dumb in that department. Interestingly back then, I had quite a few requests to do a BUILD replacement. BUILD took up too much screen space for the "options" leaving very little for the map. Sort of a schizo editor. Cool 3D texturing, below average 2D features. Other than that, drawing is drawing
