Hello Forums Dwellers!
![]() I have some semi~major news about what I've decided to do with the Vilecore Megawads.... emphasis on Megawads. What I started to do way back was make an upgrade to Vilecore. Then it got bigger and bigger until I decided it was going to be Vilecore II. Last month around Oct 9th I started to fix the first Vilecore. Anyhow I've decided to: 1) Fix Vilecore and Release an upgraded / enhanced version (for any port of course). This should be ready in December. I have a lot done and it's lookin good. I'm beefing up the architecture, adding lights, unmixing the tech stuff from the goth, adding a few new textures, killing bugs, adding some new areas, tweaking skill levels and adding new monsters for UV mode. 2) I decided Vilecore II needs new maps. I'm tired of working on the same maps over and over. The Vilecore maps I started / remade for Vilecore II will appear in Vile II but in a different order and will be mixed amongst the new maps. For example: The EvilZone is map01 in Vilecore but will be map08 in Vilecore II. For more info plus a level list of the proposed maps in Vilecore II go to my site.... http://www.newdoom.com/hosted/themegawad/ Any questions? ![]() ------------------ The Megawad: Home of Vilecore People will believe what they want to believe, no matter what the truth is.... ------------------------ Sometimes it's not easy following the path of least resistance. |

If you do decide to still do an all port version I'd like to do a .DED for it like I did for the first one for the jDoomers.

For the Vilecore 2 map ded file (VC2_maps.ded?) I was wondering how you wanted your name listed.
1.) like it is in the Vilecore readme file "Darren Finch A.K.A: Doom_Dude" 2.) Another way (How would you like it?) |

DooM!!!!! Vilecore!!!!!!!
![]() Okay, now that I've done my rant of excitment I just have to say that you need to fix the left panel on your page. It's too wide. I'm at 1024x768 and the page scrolls slightly to the side. Point of advice: make new versions of pages while the old ones are up. Creates less of a disturbance in the site. ![]() ------------------ Aliotroph?.postCount++; |

The olde pages were not finished anyhow except Links and the Vilecore page. I deleted everything off my site because it was messy and I wanted to start new. ![]()
quote:
For the Vilecore 2 map ded file (VC2_maps.ded?) I can always change it afterwards anyhow. ![]() As far as the map names go, nothing is definite right now and any of the names can change at anytime. V II is still a long way off. ------------------ The Megawad: Home of Vilecore People will believe what they want to believe, no matter what the truth is.... ------------------------ Sometimes it's not easy following the path of least resistance. |

England
Darren Finch sure sounds from England.
Darren are you really some son of a Lord of England. Or, even the Lord himself? |

Any updates
How goes Vilecore II.
I am slightly confused now what it will be. Will it be just an upgrade to vilecore 1, or all new level designs. |

Ok here's the deal. In the beginning all I wanted was to fix the original maps up... you know spruce em up a bit / make em more interesting. Then I ended up doing much more than I planned. The old maps are now much bigger with new textures, many new secrets, lots of new areas added on.... Also some areas have been deleted and most areas have been made bigger or reshaped or at least changed in some way, especially with more detail. The map order has also been changed a bit. There's many more monsters now and more items, plus additional ammo and stuff for coop play and other things I can't remember right now. So these are the original maps, but they've been ripped apart and changed so much you'd think I made them from scratch. So yeah it is an upgrade... a very big upgrade.... so big that I might as well call it Vilecore II.
It goes ok but slow. I'm also working on a few Heretic 2 DM and Bladematch maps for a change. |

Cool, I should play Vilecore 1 again, I haven't played it for awhile.
Will Vilecore 2 work with Doomsday? I call it Jdoom. |

Yep Vilecore 2 should work with any port. I know it works with Doomsday as that and GZDoom are the ports I use the most.

GZdoom
After reading that you use Gzdoom also, I decided to try it. The setup menus are amazing and highly detailed.
But apparently it is not reading the .PK3 files to load in the textures and models. How do I get Gzdoom to load them in? Thanks |
