Well, Ive completed most of Vilecore and think that it is mostly fannytastic with only a few angry making bits. Its a lot better than it looks, enough so that I would rather play vilecore than Alien Vendetta which I was eagerly awaiting for seemingly endless months. Alien Vendetta looks a lot better than it is, a fault with a host of recently released wads, my own included.

Your recent wads were designed to showcase eye candy it seems. They're still fun though. Vilecore has some of the best gameplay ever.
That Chemical Facility place rocked! Non-stop killing and not too hard. ------------------ "Killed Aliotroph?" - obituary from Perfect Dark |

Yeah, it ran great both on my P4 and Athlon. It seems DooM_Dude optimized Vilecore for 3DNOW! so it went a faster on the Athlon. But Vilecore being as big as it is the P4's 512k L2 cache made it able to load more of it cutting off the Athlon's lead. As the benchmarks show.
Pentium4:----------- 35 AthlonXP:----------- 35 Frames Per Second (More is better) As you can see the framerate differnce was marginal. |

Vilecore is Vanilla. It should run at 35fps on a P133. I play with Legacy on a PII 300MHz MMX and it lags (likely due to memory). The lag is only bad after game-loads and in dense areas.

It was suppose to be joke (read the topic name, "Away from the CPU Bores". I just throw some stuff in that made me look intelligent and them seem like real facts). Now onto the next subject, RAM. Vilecore being as big as it is, RDRAM is better blah blah blah...but due to the increased latency blah blah blah... it really makes no differnce. Okay, I'll shut up now.
/me leaves those tech sites and plays some 'core |

ROFL at Undertaker.
Aliotroph?, you were right what you said about most of my recent releases. They were just me getting to grips with the 3D features of Legacy and testing some new textures. Most of those old wads are becoming more evolved and interesting as I test new stuff and add more detail and features. I will be releasing them but not until they are ready which should be soon if I get my finger out and do some editing. I have been spending too much time finding and downloading pictures of pretty girls lately. ------------------ Creator of 'The Mummy Phuquers' and 'Mystic' series of Doom wads. also creator of ANDYDM1.WAD (my favourite) MYSTICMEG IS CUMMING SOON http://www.gtroad.net |

Here's what slows down Vilecore: background music from an XG Soft-Synth. That just about kills it so I can't use music with DooM anymore. Depending on the midi file that proggy can hog up to 90% of the CPU time.
Can't wait to see the new wads Mystic/Dude! You guys make some really fun stuff. So what DID happen last night Dude? ------------------ "Killed Aliotroph?" - obituary from Perfect Dark |

Maybe Legacy will work the M$ synth. I bet it just uses the midi mapper. It's probably better without music anyway.

Should play some Kore before I go to bed.
BTW: I think parts of that Hell Junction or whatever it is need some texture work. It was fun though. ------------------ "Killed Aliotroph?" - obituary from Perfect Dark |

I think Hellknight's Causeway has water you can fall in and get stuck. It's dumb cause you don't die, you just get stuck. I think it happens more in ports like Legacy than Vanilla DooM.

yeah :P Teleporters coming to a causeway near you real soon. You see when I built the place I ran out of money and had to cut costs by leaving the teleporters out and that damned Imp assistant forgot to put up the 'keep out of the fuckin' holes' signs. LOL.
