I pasted your dehacked code into a copy of my Vilecore.deh file and renamed it alioshotty. Anyhow it works great! LOL, it's a blast to shoot up a bunch of demons with that. It's kewl! Why does it cause all the shotguns in the level to become plasma rifles?

Well, beforehand I had been trying to make a hybrid of the shotgun and plasma rifle. When I made this patch, I forgot to wipe that data from dehacked's little database thinghy. I cleaned it up by hand but parts of my experiment remain. All you have to do to fix it is delate that block of text at the end that talks about shotguns. They will be back to normal then.

Amy just sent my a map but I can't get it to run on my laptop. It won't do anything. I'll have to check it out om my other box later when I'm home. She liked my stuff anyway. I'll tell her to try Vilecore.

Ok kewl, I'll delete that shotgun part after.
Yeah mention Vilecore. ![]() Ummmm I was wondering if it's possible to make dehacked patch that would give the chaingunners 2 or 3 times their normal health? ![]() ------------------ The Megawad: Home of Vilecore All that glitters is not gold. ------------------------ Sometimes it's not easy following the path of least resistance. |

That patch would take 30 seconds to make (25 of them just loading and saving). Changing values like that is really easy. It's recombining things and changing complex behaviours that's hard. Even that fireball thing is really really easy to do. You can even make weapons do negative damage, but they sometimes act weird when you do.

You can learn that jobby really quick methinks. Dehacked just gives you a bunch of panels where you can see the properties of things and you just tab through and edit them. The GUI for that program is quite well done.

I never even tried to run it because I keep thinking it'll look like Wintex, which I never understood.

No, it doesn't look anything ilke Wintex. It's a DOS jobby. Wintex is confusing at first, but it's pretty good in the end, especially for something done in VB.

I'm staying out of DOS thanx.
Hey Aliotroph? I got the new graphics for the Imp Rifle made and look pretty good along with your dehacked patch. The only problem is I have no clue where in the .wad file a dehacked patch is supposed to go. Between what markers do I put it? I have as of yet to get it to work when I put the patch and the sprites in the same wad file. I'm going to experiment though.... (edit message) Hmmmmm....I thought you could put dehacked patches in a wad file. I dunno now. Hmmmmmmm. ------------------ The Megawad: Home of Vilecore All that glitters is not gold. ------------------------ Sometimes it's not easy following the path of least resistance. |

Legacy might support the patches in a wad but I doubt it. They set them up be run like wads from the same folder. Originally they were only intended to save work in Dehacked. You had to make a patched copy of the exe file.

Well from my experiments I can say that dehacked patches won't run from inside a wad file. The weird thing is I remember Mystic saying that he was glad I never put my vilecore.deh patch in the Vilecore wad because he had that kinda thing crash. I'n sure thats what he said. Anyhow thats why I assumed you could do that. Heh.

I don't get that. I remember some talk about things like that. I know someone complained about your patch crashing Legacy but that doesn't make any sense. All it changes is the map name text. That's easy to do and Legacy has full dehacked support.

Well I'll have to look into it and see if maybe it can be put into a wad file.

Doesn't look like it. No time to really look until Friday night though. Maybe we should just read the Legacy docs.

I never read the legacy docs. I'm not even sure what version of Legacy I have now. :/

Legacy's docs are pretty good actually (except for the FS bits). I have 1.32 Beta 4 (the newest version). I don't know how you can miss that since it's displayed every time the program starts.

My computer flashes that screen so fast it isn't funny. I can barely see a number there. I think it says 1.32 Beta 3 but I'm not too sure and I just looked at it 8 times to try and see it. LOL.
