Cool FAKK2 Installed :)

Installed Heavy Metal FAKK2 yesterday. So far it's pretty kewl. Like using the swords but those flying thinghys are a pain. The graphics are really something to look at. Almost like walking through something straight from outta the heavy metal magazine, which is kewl. It's a 3rd person perspective game like Heretic II but you character is modeled after Julie Strain, which is fun.

I found a Goldeneye multiplayer mod for Half-Life, but I've only got it to run twice on my good box. It just crashes for no reason. Most of the Levels in that game look better than in the original.

I've been looking for a DooM themed mod for HL. Can't find anything. You know there was that HL DooM shot on the main page. If you look at it you can see it's rendered full-bright! How silly!

Mods never seem to make it to the finishing point. At least that's how it seems in the Doom community. There's Goldeneye hosted here at Newdoom, and what's going on with that!?? Then there's Deim, of course, Ghostbusters, and a bunch of Doomworld-related projects. The last big TC release I remember seeing was Batman Doom, which was pretty good. That also was a while in the making.

Yeah Mods are too much work.

I just fought a weird assed Boss in Fakk 2. This big plant thinghy with claws kept chewing me bad. The damned thing was tough but I finished it with the plasma shotgun. One of the better bosses I've seen in awhile (except for RTCW). Totally different to say the least and it kept zapping me with this electrical blast. Damn plants.

Sounds like fun.

Is FAKK2 closer to an RPG or is it closer to a shooter?? It is beginning to sound quite interesting.

Plus it uses the Quake 3 engine and the authors are friends of id!

On the Goldeneye page for DooM II there's link to one for HL and it's cool, but it always crashes on XP.

Bummer...is it the mod or Half-Life that crashes in XP? Maybe they'll release a patch.

I wish they'd do that for the older games, or at least make SOME sort of DOS emu for Doom and such.

It's the mod. HL works great in XP. I'm going to e-mail them about it. It works sometimes, but usually it crashes.

Oh, okay, cool. Yeah, I installed HL a while ago and it seemed to work okay when I tested it, but I didn't test more than a minute or two so I wasn't sure. I figured it'd work coz Quake 2 works, ...and winQuake works, too.

Oh, good. Yeah I haven't played DMC since I installed XP. That was pretty cool, though I still prefer the originals

Duke3D...nah. I never really liked it. It was too cartoonish and dirty.

It's hard to get my brother to play DooM. He likes games with good graphics. I like play HL with him though. Maybe he doesn't like DooM cause I kick the shit out of him and anyone else I play.
