For months I had Vilecore on my machine and the other day I decided to play it all the way through. I had played a few levels but it just got lost in many folders. Anyway I started to play it and could not put the damn thing down. I had planned to do so much with my little free time that I had. In the end I just played Vilcore. So I am pissed off with Doom_Dude for making it too good
By the way don't be flashing that Vilecore II stuff in my face you hear? Got too much shit to do. Haven't even got time to make things and stuff.... ------------------ |

LOL thanx for the compliment FACE I'm glad you couldn't put it down! Sorry about that and I know it's all my fault! You have projects to work on and news to do.....yet I did do the news while you were playing games! Its about time you played it. From what I read on your website, you have all kinds of time on your little hands! So at least you were having fun with Vilecore instead of say pulling weeds or cleanin rain gutters! Vilecore Version 2.0 is going to be better! BETTER I TELL YA! I Swear this newest and final version of Vilecore is going to be fun with a new coat of paint. Its 32 BIG levels, I dont think I will ever finish it. Its loads better than Doom 2 though. (I never even wanted to finish that)

There is a couple of smaller levels in there. I just replayed the Ashwall Plaza map15 and that's not what I'd call BIG. I do find it hard to make smaller maps and I always want to add more stuff to them. Ummmm, map13 The Morbid Arena is a smaller map and that one was drawn up on graph paper beforehand, which helped me keep it smaller. I think planning ahead sometimes is a great help.

Ok Mystic. Take your time, theres no BIG hurry or anything. Besides I'm still waiting for Don Incognito to give me his report on map 01 after he's done playtesting it.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: I like Vilecore better than Final DooM by a million miles! It's awesome. It's good looking and it has awesome gameplay with lots of big levels to wander. It really rocks with Legacy.

Heheheheheehehe! That's funny mr aliotroph and I've done the same thing lots of times. I get used to the Quake r-launcher and then forget the Doom one has to keep from walls. lol

I got to about 13 hit what I thought was a DM level and guessed that was it. IT'S NOT!!!! DAMN. NOBODY SAY ANYTHING. Looks like I am gonna waste another couple of days now. 32 F****** LEVELS. Doom_Dude should be banned from making levels they are worse than Fags. (Tabs, Smokes, Tobbaco sticks) See you in a few days ------------------ |

Cool. Just tried Slige. It has some weird kinks but you'd expect that of a random map generator. It made some fun and really hard levels. Needs a GUI though. I'm tempted to write one. I could do most of it's functionality in a day, but the config file would take ages to do. Might be worth it. Any comments?

Yeah, go for it Aliotroph? sounds like a plan.
So Ive only seen the scabby levels in Vilecore. That does it, Im going to cheat and just have a look around instead of trying to play through the buggers. BTW level 4 is where I keep getting killed. I just made a megawad with Slige and played that. There was some really weird architecture. Some of it was actually good though. There was a lot of gameplay reminiscent of Vilecore (hidden doors with monsters everywhere). There were hordes damnit! HORDES! Some of the lighting effects were good (shadows in alcoves) but he dark sectors under skies have to go. Now I'm bored of playing DooM.
Time to figure out all the parameters for Slige so I can make a config proggy. My idea was to have it output the Slige file and then run a node builder on it. I was thinking of adding support to change the config file too, but that thing looks like a bitch. It's really complex (sort of like the defs file for wad2map for Duke3D). Should be doable though.
