Here's my big question. If DooM's been around for SEVEN YEARS, how come there aren't more megawads? Especially since ports like Legacy have come out. It's actually really hard to find really good megawads. I'm looking forward to the one this forum is supposed to be for, but where are all the others? Is there a single place that's dedicated to megawads, TCs and the like? That would be really cool!

When DooM was first launched, most people didn't have a clue about editing. There weren't too many good editors around either as the source code hadn't been released.
When the source code was released people started to make (crappy) single level wads. Over the years editing skills became higher and people started to get more adventurous. It takes a long time to make a megawad. There are sites dedicated to megawads, like Doom_Dude's site and TeamTNT. Or you could make one yourself!

I'll make this real simple.
the best of the best of the best megawads,is NOT specifically for source ports, but will play with ANY of them. Its called Eternal. Do a search for it,or for team tnt's homepage..you'll find it. I'll look great with zDoom,Legacy,or jDoom. No matter what anyone says,no matter what has been made for source ports, nothing comes close to holding a candle to this one. Play 3 levels,& see if you don't agree. By the way,its been said that its John Romero's favorite megawad.

Hmmmm... Mummy Phuquers. What an interesting name? Is this thing appropriate for minors Mystic? Am I the first one to see this connection by the way?

Man these boards get really sick sometimes. I'm starting to wonder if DooM hasn't destroyed the psyches of a whole generation.

You saw the sick joke in the map name didn't you? Between that and the stuff about Monkey (along with a multiplicity of other things), this place can be pretty sick. I'm not saying I'm not sick too. I'm just saying lots of us have been warped by something.

Hey I saw the joke within the title and it don't bother me... as far as "Sick" stuff goes, that is pretty tame compared to some of the shite that is out there.

Don't worry Doom_Dude. I'm not offended by any of it. Just pointing out how warped we all are.
Hey Undertaker, I think the balls lighting works a little better in pitch-black maps. ------------------ "Killed Aliotroph?" - obituary from Perfect Dark |
