I've recently downloaded the doom legacy port but it has been giving me some memory problems particularly after I quit from the front end. Any program I launch after quitting will show a message saying that my computer has run low on memory which I find ridiculous cause I have 160 MB of RAM and a 17 GB HDD. So any suggestions ?
Pls note that no other programs were runnning in the background. |

wrong: what is shown in the ctrl-alt-del window isn't all thats running.
beyond that, we are not mind readers, so we need more info that what you've provided, or the only answer you could get is to not to quit DL |

Hello!
This is just an idea, but have you tried using utilities such as FreeMem, which are designed to free up memory when some other programs steal it.. FreeMem can be found from http://www.meikel.com/ Take care... |

Which version of Doom Legacy you use? and which mode? (software or OpenGL?)

Hmm. Check virtual memory settings, if possible set it manually to min/max of 1.5 x your amount of memory, so e.g.
160mb physical RAM = 240 min/max virtual memory. Although I doubt that would help to be honest. You could try freeing up some disk space, but unless your HD was utterly full it wouldn't really affect the memory of your computer. |

disable norton antivirus. that sucking up CPU and most likely ram. you don't need it running 24/7 either.

Let's see, Silvas, thanks for the suggestion, I'm going to try that later, Hurdler, I am using DL ver 1.30 in software, John the Frad, I let Windows manage my virtual mem and besides there is about 3.?? gigs free and funkyass, tried that

dont let windows manage you virtual memory. windows is last thing that should be managing it's virtual memory.

I noticed you have Win98 and lots of RAM, so try putting this in your system.ini for better performance and perhaps a solution to your problem.
In the [386Enh] field, include: ConservativeSwapFileUsage=1 Give that a shot and report back. |

Hey, Excalibur, thanks for the help but unfortunately, the problem still comes out.
Any other solutions ? BTW, can doom legacy work on Hexen and heretic or any other games based on the Doomsday engine ? |
