Angry Resolutions greater then 640x480?

I just d/led the new JDoom, and love it, but I have hit one small snag. When I try to set screen resoultion to anything higher then 640 x 480, I get the error...

"Doomsday has caused an error in 3DFXOGL.DLL Doomsday will now close."

I have Windows ME, a Voodoo 3, 3000 AGP, with the latest 1.07.00 drivers, and DirectX 8.0. I do love the game, I would just like to see it at higher resolutions.

Can anybody help?

(PS: This happens in Ultimate Doom, Doom II, and Heretic )

Have you tried using D3D instead of OpenGL? I have the same 3d card (only PCI instead of AGP ) and could not get OpenGL to work properly at all. D3D seems to work fine.

If that is no help, try going to the JDoom Resource.

Well, I run the JDoom resource and as luck would have it, I have a Voodoo3 and played JDoom at 800x600 and 1024x768 . I havent played it in WinME yet (installed but not tried) as its just fine in my rock solid stable WinNT4 environment.

JDoom sometimes doesnt like me changing the resolution inside the game however, so if i'm upping the resolution i usually either use the DLaunch or if I'm keeping the settings I edit the JDoom.cfg directly.

# Default resolution (X).
defResX 800

# Default resolution (Y).
defResY 600

Alternatively, you can specify the resolutions on the command line:

"doomsday -game jdoom.dll -gl drOpenGL.dll -doom -maxzone 16m -width 800 -height 600

Hope this helps.

if you put your preferd res on defalt(not current) then exit out of the game. then go right back in and it should be at your res. tell me if this does not work for you.
