SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome)

I am not sure if you folks have heard of the SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome) that has been going around a few countries. And sadly to say, I am from Singapore one of the few countries(HongKong, Canada, Taiwan and China) that has been badly affected by the virus that is more or less airborne. Schools from the elementary level right to colleges had been closed few days ago to prevent infected individuals from passing the virus on to their classmates. Today (Tuesday 1st April 2003), my school which is another form of educational institute(Polytechinic) has been anounced closed till next monday.
I am worried about the SARS Virus as it is lethal if not discovered and cured in the early stage. I hope me, my family and friends will be alright throughout this whole ordeal as I fear for their lives at hand.
I wish those people didn't bring this virus from Hongkong, it has tarnised Singapore's image by making a once famous tourist attraction to a hotzone and a "Virus" filled city.

I just thank heavens I am with my family cos 1 year ago, I was suppose to go to University of ALberta to study(which means I will be in my second year now if I did got in) but I didn't cos of some financial crisis. And I used to be studying in a college in Ontario as well as Vancouver before I graduated.
Can't imagine this going on, when I am all alone overseas.

I've heard they were using blood from survivors in Hong Kong to treat patients. That carries a pile of it's own risks.

It has now supposedly crossed to New Zealand as well, If anyone has any form of pnuemonia symptoms they have to alert the authorities before leaving their town/city... are we living in exciting times or what..
