Post GeForce 4 Ti 4200 Compared to 4600

How good is a Geforce 4 Ti 4200 compared to a Ti 4600, because I think I'm getting one of those, and I want anything that will improve performance, and graphics power.

I am pondering on replacing my GF3 ti 200 64MB with a GF4 ti4600 128MB for a 33-40% improvement in a while when the prices drop more.

I'm waiting for DOOM3 to come out, then I'll buy the best nVidia card available.

Those new NVidia cards are bloody huge! They will take up two slots. One for the actual plug and another so they can vent hot air out the back!

Yep, those geforceFX take alot of real estate in the case. And I'm betting that was the weakest of that lot, kinda like the Ti 4200. Things keep going like this & Nvidea might need to liquid cool their retail cards.

what he means by 2 slots is that it will make the PCI slot next to your AGP slot unusable because it willbe taken up by heatsink/fan/windtunneltubethingamabobber

Out of 5 PCI and 1 AGP slot, I have 4 slots free. my GF3 is in the AGP and my Audigy is in one of the 5 slots open.

You can find GeForce4 specs at the nVidia site. Anyways, I have a GeForce 4200, and I discovered that if I want a 4400 performance, it's just a matter of switching from 1024x768 to 800x600. Meaning that the speed a Ti4200 renders at 800x600 is the same as a Ti4400 at 1024x768. Yeah, Ti4600 is even faster, but I think that a Ti4200 is like a Glock with 19 shots in the magazine: If you can't solve your problems with this, just drop it and run for cover.
