Lame 3.91 is available here.
For all your MP3 encoding needs, there is just nothing else. I'm lazy and don't feel like explaining everything you can do with it, but if you tell me what kind and quality of MP3s you want to encode I can help with it. Unless you're one of those people who actually reads the help docs. ------------------ STINKPANTS: LÜTs REVENGE! - Download the Lüt Sucks EP, NOW UPDATED WITH 3 BONUS TRACKS! It's always worked just fine, doesn't waste much space/memory, etc.
If you mean besides that, I don't think there are any worth getting. ------------------ STINKPANTS: LÜTs REVENGE! - Download the Lüt Sucks EP, NOW UPDATED WITH 3 BONUS TRACKS! Team Insanity (Doom) The Barnacle (Personal) Dying Corpse (Music) |

I agree with the Winamp suggestion. I've been using it a lot and have no problems with it...plus its free.

Well Lut, for example the song "Lame" by TOOL is actually one I want to edit. I wanna cut out the 7 minutes of crapola at the beginning. I got a program called Audio Edit which may work. Haven't played around much yet.
Man this MP3 man kicks ass. 208 / 14 albums on one CD. ------------------ Member of Team DEIM Webmaster The DOOM Editing Resource |

For recording MP3, Musicmatch Jukebox is great
For playing MP3 Winamp is best I think Sound Forge is supposed to be a good wav editor, dont know for sure though. ------------------ Creator of 'The Mummy Phuquers' and 'Mystic' series of Doom wads. also creator of ANDYDM1.WAD (my favourite) MYSTICMEG IS CUMMING SOON http://www.gtroad.net |

For playing WinAmp.
For encoding either MusicMatch Jukebox (whole CDs, love the option that names the tracks automatically) or WinLAME thing (single track). |

WinAMP kicks ass baby!! Yeah! Woo!
*cough* To convert CD audio or anything to MP3 I use Creative PlayCenter 2. I'm not sure if you can get it for free. It came with my Nomad Jukebox (you know, the mp3 player with 6Gb hdd) back when I had a job and could afford to buy cool new expensive things. You could also use GoldWave, which you can download at goldwave.com as shareware. I bet that's useful. You'll need that LAME codec though. And to develop MP3s, I use GoldWave and Notepad! I have no idea how people usually make mp3s. Probably that Sonic ACID thing that's really cool that I ought to warez. But I'm comfortable. I finished my first work yesterday. It's based on a song from Sonic Advance (since no midis are out for the game I based it all on what I heard). Came out pretty accurate too. You can download the original here (no, it didn't record badly; GBA sound quality just stinks). |

They do have a 20Gb one out now, you know. Far cheaper than the 6Gb started out at (which was $500). *drool* ...five hundred smackeroos...
By the way, what's a smackeroo? I know I've heard it somewhere, and it sounds more like a Kangeroo fight than it does a dollar. |

Cracked version of Audio Grabber, cracked Cool Edit 95 (to edit all sorts of sound) and Blade Encoder for encoding. WinAmp is the best for mp3 playing and radio streaming I've found. Wait did I say cracked? I mean... umm... oh the hell with it.
