Damn Annoying Big Pics In Topics!

Is it too much to ask?

Well, whenever someone posts a huge a$$ed picture that it causes the topic to have a horizontal scroll, I find it ruins the look of the topic. It is damned annoying and looks like crap. Some of these pics can be easily found on the net in a smaller size and it would be nice if these pics were used instead of these big things. If there is no alternate, smaller pic of the same thing to be found, then why not just put the link to the picture in the post. That way we can still view the pic without the annoyance of side scrolling back and forth.

It's annoying! If big pics are continued to be used the priviledge of putting pics into our posts could be taken away.

As a guide to posting pics....if the original pic, on anouther site is larger than your screen, then it's too big! If it fits within your screen with some room left over, then it should fit just fine.

Please help to keep everything ship-shape and remember to think big and post small or even medium

Then again, it's all relative, too.
Most people nowadays use 1024x768 at the lowest, so anything over 800x600 is something I'd consider too wide. Typically, anything bigger is something I don't post, unless there's no alternative, including the lack of smaller images.

I'd think that 800x600 is a good maximum.

Unlike some people that only think of themselves, or foolishly think just because they use 1024x768, every one must. I agree 100% with you Doom_Dude! I think there sould be a set limit of 500 width on all pic's posted. If a pic is posted larger than that, it sould be deleted. If the offender refuses to comply, then they sould be banned from the forum. I don't want to lose the privlage of posting pic's because of 1 or 2 people that only consider them self and show no respect for others.

Actually, I'm going AGAINST my preferences when stating 800x600 images are fine. I am in the minority with 800x600 desktop rez, so yeah, there's some widening, but it's not bad. I just scroll enough to make the name column dissapear, and you can see everything, and on occasion, most of everything (a couple letters clipped off the edge).
The 1024x768's and higher are too much, like the Kiss image posted recently. THAT is too much.

Well, in some way, I agree with Doom_Dude! If you post "huge" pix larger than 800 X 600 (800 X 600 is still large, but ok), they should be deleted! Also some guys use too large Signature Pix and I really hate this, if they use their signature on every post they do (for example "King_Reol" and "Don Incognito", sorry, but they are really large!
I think it is better, when these pix are not largere then 256 X 256! That's really the maximum!
But if you have larger Pix, it is really annoying, if you have to scroll the mouse down 2 metres to get to the next reply!

I sort'a agree, about 50%.

It suckz when a sig pic is too large and it takes all day to download, so there should be a limit on sig pics.

But Alot of people just see funny stuff on the internet and want to shure it with the us, They don't want the Annoyance of looking for a new smaller pic and then posting it. But If he does this often then he should have to change his ways.

Granted, the pic and my desktop are 800x600, it's fine. I can still read the entire post, minus a lette or two on some lines (no biggie).

I know how you are all feeling, but I don't have a problem since I am using high speed connection (I cannot stand 56K anymore), and my resolution is at a sweet 1152x864. I want it at 1280x1024 but my cheap-ass video adapter card doesn't do well in that resolution, and displays everything a little blurry. When I get my Radeon, I'm going to up it to that.

Please DON INCOGNITO and KING REOL, change your Signiature Pix! They ae in my eyes too large! And it really suckz, if you post 4 or 5 times in one threat and always use "Show Signature" PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tormentor, I really don't find there to be a problem with REoL's sig pic, or anyone elses for that matter. Don Incognito's is a on the borderline, but once it loads it's not a prob.

Well ok! I think I have told you a mistake! I don't wanted to say 256X256, I meant 128X128! This is a bit confusing! I is also ok if you decrease the height and increase the length (f.e. DoomDudes Banner of Vilecore!)
This has nothing to do with the loading times or the slowing down with less faster modems! I think, it looks terrible if you see about 10 Signature Pictures in the Size of Don_Incognito's in one threat! Isn't it enough, if you have a small Signature Icon of a maximum size of 128X128??? Or if you have a larger pic, it is better if you post per threat one time your signature! I hate this neverending scrolling!

Don't take it pesonal Don! I don't have anythingh against you, but your pic IS TOO TALL :P

My 2 ideas:
1.Small Icon which you can post everytime
or
2.Large Icon which you can only post one time per Threat!

What do you think????
