You should be able to interact more. And there should be other marines to help you out. Doesn't it seem like Halo is the sequel to Doom 2 but without the monsters and in a new uniform?

Well I want more interaction, that's for sure! Gimme computer panels to either hack into or blow up to gain access to secrets or important areas. Gimme shit I can pick up and break like chairs and keyboards. Let there be fire! I want to put a plastic chair-part into an arcing, electrical panel, have it burst into flames and then toss it into a room full of sludge-waste barrels, thus blowing up a dozen Imps. The survivors (if there's any) of course attack you whilst they're on fire. They come into the room with you, igniting books and plastic mugs, etc... LOL, that would be kewl.

However, because this is DooM after all, I seriously doubt there will be NPCs.

Well I think a compromise is in order for the NPC deal in DooM III. I say that during certain parts / missions there should be a NPC or two, to help make the game world more believable. Then during other parts, you're alone again, surrounded by the demonic hordes.
You could have stuff like A squad of marines you're supposed to meet up with, come through a teleporter, half chewed up and dieing at your feet....shit like that ![]() ------------------ The Megawad Deathcore & Vilecore Ver2.0 is coming! Did you know that you can take damage from the NPCs in Strife if you try to punch them out? I think that makes it more believable.
As for DooM3, I agree that some NPCs would make a nice change of pace from mindless blasting (which, don't get me wrong, has its place in a well-balanced diet of gaming). ------------------ Freedom's just another word for 'nothing left to lose' -- Janis Joplin |

Red Faction is supposed to have a really good engine for that environmental stuff. Maybe I should find a demo and play it or something.

LOL! My brother bought Red Faction and I can install it anytime now
The railgun has a scope that can see through walls and rocks. Thing is, the enemy has rails too, so that's kewl. ------------------ The Megawad Deathcore & Vilecore Ver2.0 is coming! Gimme a wicked weapon a mean assed monster in a kewl level and an engine that delivers. |

I see. Never played that jobby you call perfect dark, but will be playing Red Faction soon, thats for sure. The thing is an install of Faction might mean I start editing that game and that could be bad for my current projects.

Almost sounds like the Farsight. Except that only shoots through anything and everything and leaves no damage on the enviroment (Expect maybe a bullet hole). But Farsight has a nice little scope that has an infinite zoom and that homes in on your target. While the railgun seems to blow up everything in its path.

I like the destruction of the railcannon but they could give it a little more power and an upgrade or 2.

All these high powered, new fangled, contrived, railgunsnipercannon weapons are too much! Gimme a double barreled shotgun and a chaingun! I'd rather have to chew an enemy up with rounds instead of this one shot kill dealie!

As long as they're dead it doesn't really matter much about the message. What good are messages to a dead?

There's just something far more satisfying about pumping pieces of metal into a red, misty pulp. Relieves much more agression.
