What are some of the things you guys would like to see in the New DooM?
I just got Red Faction for the PC over the weekend. Something new I'd like to see in the new DooM is the GeoMod technology. It totally rocks being able to blow holes in walls and make new paths! Just think, you know there is a demon around the corner, so what do you do? Go through the wall and surprise him... of course the sound of explosions should tip of the hellspawn that something is going on. ------------------ Looks like you're stuck on The Shores Of Hell. |

Pentium III mode -- Makes game playable with 500mhz PCs.
SIDE EFFECT: Game runs at 10fps. Old Faithful gfx mode -- Renders the game as as high quality as your video card can handle, removing gfx features that would overload it. SIDE EFFECT: Looks and plays like Quake 2. 3dfx mode -- Game runs with any voodoo card with all features on at max. SIDE EFFECT: Game screen is too damn dark to see anything. NVidia Vanta mode -- Collecting "Detonator" powerups within a level increases card performace by 50%. SIDE EFFECT: Improvement is not hardly noticable. Level takes 10 minutes to load. Geforce 3 mode -- Runs game with all features at a solid 30fps. SIDE EFFECT: Game crashes on loading screen with the error, "Insuffucient funds, cannot legally render screen" Original Engine mode -- Gurantees a steady speed of 35fps. SIDE EFFECT: Resolution set to 320x200, disables gfx filters, replaces poly objects with sprites. Beating the game enables the "Use MD2" cheat. Nintendo mode -- Improves performance by 30%. SIDE EFFECT: Violent interaction comically protrayed. Weapons stored in little balls. Must shout, "Shotgun, I choose YOU!" to equip shotgun. Ammo is replaced by Power Points. Game plays annoying music in background. Syphon Filter mode -- Divides levels into objectives and enhances gameplay. Armor completely absorbs damage. SIDE EFFECT: Character runs awkwardly. Any voice acting is done exceptionally lame. Most gfx features are turned off. Character dies in one hit if wearing no armor. |

Duke3D Mode -- Runs with SVGA resolution in software only
SIDE EFFECT: Everything 3D is faked with sprites which clip through everything. Mouselook causes huge distortion at steep angles and sound card compatibility is shit. DooM 32X for the Genesis 32X mode...
All the enemies have no sideways frames of animation, thus causing them to look at you even when looking off at an angle. God it burns my eyes!!! AUGHHHHHH!!!! ------------------ Looks like you're stuck on The Shores Of Hell. |

LOL I built a wad like that. The person I used wasn't available to pose for the animations!
Savage4 Mode -- GL works sometimes and D3D just sucks. Graphics once again look like Quake II King's Quest VIII Mode -- The graphics are new and the game is very in-depth SIDE EFFECT: the mouse is restricted to a use cursor and the player must be steered with the keyboard. ------------------ "Killed Aliotroph?" - obituary from Perfect Dark |

Windows 98 mode- The game essentially looks the same, with just an update here or there.
Windows XP mode- Same as above, except some pretty new looks and complete domination of FPS market. ------------------ Looks like you're stuck on The Shores Of Hell. |

M$ RGB Emulation mode-- The game runs under solfware GL
Side Effect: Takes from 30 minutes to an hour to process one frame on a on P4/Athlon. |
