I just got goosebumps...
I stumbled onto this article today - http://doom.wikia.com/wiki/Aspect_ratio
that explains some aspect ratio technical issues of Vanilla DooM compared to modern source ports / monitors... Anyways, the last screenshot example was this: It looks squished and strange, but I strongly remember DooM looking like this when I was a little kid... everything about this lost ratio presentation ties into some strange web of brain meat in my head that is simultaneously WRONG but absolutely correct all along... very strange... |

I don't remember it looking quite that stretched with the height in the pic you posted there (seems like a possible Monkey-Fools jobby)... Interesting article tho.

Probably. That screenshot looks ridiculous. Very few people had monitors shaped like that in the 90s.
