Graphics better on windows?

I use mac os x, and just downloaded doomsday engine after seeing a youtube video, and realizing that it was better then legacy. Unfortunately, the engine seems to be much better if used on a windows. Whats that about?

My friend has a mac and the betas seem to run great on them to me. But generally they aren't as developed simply because there hasn't been a stable version. But the betas in general should be the same.
