New Doom Forums - FAQ: Forum Rules (Please Read Before Posting)
| Closed Threads / Bans / Other Moderation |
If a thread has been closed, DO NOT start a new thread about it. This is one of the biggest no-nos around.
Note: This also applies to bans or any other moderation.
Furthermore, if a previously closed thread is reopened, DON'T start a conversation about why it was closed / reopened. Sometimes we are able to clean up a thread and reopen it; in which case, members are expected to continue on the normal conversation before the thread went bad. |
| Thread Resurrection / Bumping |
Digging up an old, dead thread is a no-no. Leave the past in the past. But you can link to it in a new relevant discussion that's taking place.
Also, DON'T bump a thread. 'nuff said. |
| Religious / Political Talk |
Religious and Political Talk are OFF LIMITS, except for the Politics sub-forum. Posts there are subject to strict moderation, especially should we get any complaints. Do not post any flames or personal attacks of any kind. You will get ONE warning, after that, automatic ban. No questions asked.
Also, keep religion / politics out of your signature, user title or avatar. |
| Warez / Illegal Talk |
| There will be NO talk of warez here. How you got them, where you got them, what you downloaded them with, etc. This will cause a ban. No questions asked. This includes talking of "torrents". Legal or not, torrent has TOO much illegal activity associated with it. The talk can turn to illegal downloads WAY too easily. Torrent talk is OFF limits. |
| Cursing / Flames |
Please keep cursing in posts to a minimum. Don't use curse words in the subject line when making a new topic. We feel there's enough words in the English language to describe your topic that curse words aren't needed at all.
And this one's so obvious, it almost doesn't need to be said, but alas it still does: flames or negative personal comments will not be tolerated. As we encourage a culture of class and dignity on our forums, this rule is strictly enforced. |
| Double Posting |
Please try to refrain from double posting. If you forget to add something to your post, there is an edit button. Please use it.
No cross-posting. Do not post the same message in more than one forum section. Post it only once, and choose wisely where you post it in the first place. Otherwise, it's considered a form of SPAM, and will be dealt with accordingly. |
| New Members |
If you are a new member, please just join right in on the conversation. We do not want "Hi, I'm new here!" threads. We will get to know you as you post here more and more.
Also, if you register more than one account, when you get caught (we can search IPs)... you're toast. |
| Posting Images |
When you post an image in a thread please resize it to be NO larger than 800x600. Otherwise, please post a link to view the image.
Don't deliberately post pornographic or disturbing images. Doing so will warrant you with an instant ban. |
| Signatures |
You may have one non-animated image in your signature. It also may not exceed the size of 450 (width) x 120 (height).
Also, you may have no more than 25 words of text in your signature. And no lines of blank text space.
No using quote or center tags in signatures. |
| Custom Titles |
| You may have a custom title after you hit 60 days registered and also have 300 posts. Again please do not spam to 300. 60 days is plenty of time for you to reach 300 posts. |
| Avatars |
| You can have a custom avatar after you hit 150 posts and have been registered for 30 days. Please do not spam to get to 150 posts....spam posts will be deleted. |
| Sentence Structure |
| Absolute mastery of the English language isn't necessary (although it's a good thing), but moderately intelligible use of punctuation, spelling, etc., is. Avoid run-on sentences by using proper spacing, to get your point across without annoying the reader. Otherwise, don't post. You'll get a warning first, but if you keep posting gibberish only you can understand, you'll be posting for idiots elsewhere soon. |
