Sorry I am late on this.
This past Sunday , January 29, 2012, Mohammad Shafia, his second wife Tooba Yahya (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ytCEuuW2_A), and their eldest son Hamed Shafia were convicted of the first degree murders three of Shafia's teen-aged daughters and his first wife.
You could say I am kind of close to the event, quite literally. The murders took place at Kingston Mills just five miles from here. I can probably walk there in about an hour and a half. My family also used to go there for picnics from time to time.
The Shafias Plotted to kill the girls because they wore western clothing and had boyfriends. Shafia's first wife was considering a divorce from the polygamous marriage and was slated for death as well. They were condemned by Mohammad's sick notion that they had somehow violated the family's honour by daring to act like westerners.
The Shafias tried to make the deaths look like an accident by placing the victims in a car and pushing it into the lock, but although they were successful in committing the murders, their perfect crime of making it look like an accident was so ridiculously inept, including requiring investigators to believe that the car somehow jumped a rail, made a 180 degree turn around an granite outcrop, then made another 180 degree turn on to the lock structure itself, then drove out to the end without hitting anything before finally taking a sharp 90 degree left turn and falling into the lock, that they were very quickly arrested.

Well tonight the Shafias rot in jail, where they will be serving their life sentences with no chance for parole for at least 25 years.
