... is it actually a good idea weeding out WoW players for the workplace? I agree with the idea, despite how 'draconian' it is.

Note: The 'blog/article' doesn't have strong proof or any of that integrity crap, but guess it is the idea that counts.

Without even reading the article (as I've read about it just a little already on Gamepolitics), I'm going to take a wild guess and call discrimination. WoW players are generally stereotyped as unproductive and obsessive nerds who never do anything but play, so it doesn't seem like a huge leap of logic that certain people would think twice before hiring someone who plays it.
People who play it play it a lot, but they get other stuff done too.

Also without reading the article: Just need to say this.... My partner in the Computer shop is a WoW player, though he hasen't played in a long time. Our hired tech plays WoW all day while fixing comps. Me.... I could care less about WoW I won't pay to play. We knock out PCs faster than any other shop in town LOL.

Hmmm. Maybe the people who are not being productive and playing WoW have not been practicing the self-disiplining enough and perhaps the playing of the game does not cause unproductiveness?
Oh, following a differing but similar traintrack of thought, when Doom was first being released, did not many employers ban Doom at the working station? Maybe that is being a better technique for deterring the WoW playing, so the ones who are only playing during the free-time anyway are not being punished by unemployment too, possibly. I dunno, I am thinking it would be a hard choice to be making as an employer, since even if not fair, having no WoW players would mean not worrying about the potential problem at all. I personally am not thinking it prudent to be mentioning WoW at a job interview when applying for a position.
I am hoping a solution is being found that is beneficial to both employers and WoW players. :)
