View Full Version : Okay for Republicans, WRONG for the Democrats?!

Yes, you're not seeing things, I'm siding with ONE thing thus far, with one plan of Obama's, the way to pump up this awful economy, the worst since the Great Depression.
Bush deficit-spended to pump money into important buisnesses (not totally in favor of that), and giving the taxpayers an "Economic Stimulus" check (that, I DO like). Now Obama wants to do the SAME EXACT THING, yet now Republicans say it's wrong to do.
So, it's okay for them, not the the Dems? Hypocrytes.
I hate this. Each side says the other is wrong, but when their side has power, they will flip-flop and say it's a great thing to do, and vise-versa. It's stupid. Either you think this is the right thing to do, or the wrong thing. One part good and another bad, should be considered the same if another party wants the same.
This is one thing, at least I'll pull for Obama to make work.

I'm beginning to see why Phoebs didn't want the politics section. And I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't completely and solely because of you and Mystic because you're both lunatics. Honest to Oden truth.

dont go lumping me in with Reol, I dint think I ever made a politics thread, I cant stand politics or politicians, I see them all as a bunch of opportunistic, self serving, lying bastiches, whatever dogma they claim to follow. same goes for religion.
Im one of those silly people who likes to think human society will evolve into a sort of Utopia where everyones needs are met (apart from murderers, perverts, sadists and those who seek to exploit others for personal gain or power). Then I look at the people around me and realise the only paradise we are heading for is a fools paradise. I should never have watched that movie 'idiocracy', its scarred me mentally.

Oh, don't worry Mystic. You're are definitely different from REoL. He raves about totally frivolous and worthless things, while you seem that your heart is in the right place, but you're still totally nuts. Different classes of lunatic. ;)
By the way, this post was not meant to be completely inflammatory. But I do think you are both nuts. REoL is just more annoying. :P

I suspect that he will take that as a compliment

What REoL is forgetting is a huge number of Republicans hated Bush's economic direction. They absolutely hated it. He's no fiscal conservative, and probably only ever said he was to get votes. The people who voted for him were doing it for foreign-policy and religious reasons. For a lot of people those concerns outweighed the spending concern since they figured the Democrats would do a similar thing anyway, and a good number of them were saying it was wrong when Bush was doing it. That $700 billion plan was hard to pass because of Republicans.
I've heard a lot of Republicans getting worried because they can't find a small-government party anymore other than the Libertarians, and they think Libertarians just take that to an extreme.
Things like Idiocracy fail to scare me. Society is headed for the same patterns it always has been. It doesn't get much smarter or much stupider on average. Over the centuries the clever people seem to have raised a lot of things up, but always without stopping the mass of fantastically stupid people -- the type who would burn witches and do rain dances. It matters not as long as the smart people remain willing to do some killing once in a while if things get too bad (yeah, the guys leading the American Revolution were some kind of heroes... :D ).

.....a lot of stuff.
You're right there as well. He tried to cross party lines, and burned himself some. You can't win either way. I'm sure if Obama sides with the Elephants, He'll be beaten down quite a bit, too.

I think its the stupid people doing the killing because they cant win the arguments. They will come out on top and do a 'pol pot' on what they see as the gay clever people.
