Comcast must be looking for buisness, and hoping those who are confused about the change of their old bunny-ear TVs to the digital signal, would make it easy to convert, and buy into their service.

Talk about being the hunter looking for prey.

If people want cable at this time, it's all good, but I think they are just trying to make money off people that are confused about the switchover, and not knowing (possibly not knowing) that they can still get their local stations (and then some) for free, with a measily over-the-air converter box.

What do you think about this? Do you think the other bunny-ear people will do their reasearch first, or apply themselves in the simple act of programming the channels into the new box, and watching DTV? It's not hard. A total idiot like myself can do it, in fact, can even remember the physical channels that are branded to their analog numbers.

Another question is, why hasn't anyone made a battery-operated DTV box for those hand-held TV's? MARKET!!! :)

That is just how it is nowadays. With everything that happens, there are always going to be a handful of gullible people who will take anything that is thrown at them.

It'll be those people's own fault if they don't pay attention to all those government messages about DTV. There are so many of those on American channels now they had my mom confused, despite the fact their message is perfectly clear. Our stations aren't switching until 2011.

Comcast isn't exactly the most honest cable company I've ever seen anyway. If you call them they'll tell you time and again they will only set up e-mail for Outlook Express. They refuse to acknowledge their own website has rather nice, screenshot-filled tutorials for just about every popular e-mail client out there. They also liked to tell customers they needed a new NIC when really they only needed to reboot their cable modems! Good going!

I wonder what Q just told Picard in that second pic. :D

Also, that "PSA" is hilarious. :D

There was one town, somewhere out west, that tried the digital-only switchover to see how people would react, and respond. Needless to say, over half the people didn't know what to do. In case you might be wondering, this town does not have cable or sattelite service, so they only get TV from antennas. As I said before, it's too easy, and any idiot could really do it.

NEWSFLASH: Comcast, are they really honest? Film at 11. :D
No kidding. When my Parents had digital cable, their on-demand didn't work. They were told they needed a "Digital Splitter", because the cable is split to 3 TV's. Uhh....a splitter is a splitter. The only difference is the old one was a 350-ohm impedance splitter, and they needed a 1K-ohm one instead. Digital splitter. Good one...

It's the American Way. Give a half-ass answer, and not bother with going through everything.

That sounds less like dishonesty, and more like technical ignorance. It's not uncommon for techs to not know what the fuck they are doing. Just ask Aliotroph?! I'm sure he's dealt with more than any of us ever will.

Funny how the TECHNICIANS don't know what they're talking about, or doing in some cases, when they are suposed to. Quality assurance. :)

Customer: I think you need to use the 1K ohm splitter for my TV's.
Tech: What's an ohm?

I too sometimes find the usefulness of a tech amazing. Sometimes I may need to call the tech's for my ISP when I have a problem, but more often than not I end up confusing them with technical jargon and I fix the problem myself anyway, or I just tell them how they are supposed to do their job. Gets quite annoying really.

Funny how that is.
I admit that my electronics know-how is very rusty, but have the books to retrain myself. (Have an Associate's in Electronics Engineering, but for the past 12 years, I mostly did calibration on potentiometers, and pressure transducers. Needless to say, talents gone.) I don't make the claim of a tech guru, unlike these dolts do.

Enjoying the tech stories. Wonder if they just hire any High School drop-outs looking for work?

They do. In fact, Comcast doesn't even do that. They outsource their phone support to a company in Canada that hires highschool dropouts looking for work, and they pay about $9 per hour for it. :D

Shame on Comcast! If it weren't for those vile imps, the great TechTV would still be here, and not this pitiful excuse for a tv channel called G4, which hardly has anything to do with video games, if anything that is.

What does Comcast have to do with G4 buying TechTV?

Oh, geez.......and I was joking.....

Speaking of Comcast dishonesty, telephone service for $30/month, but they don't tell you that you need an EDTA(sp?) for $3/month. So, does that NOT equal $30/month? Dishonest.
