This situation is so oldschool. From Mr. Putin himself:
Restrictions on sovereignty... have already had certain consequences, such as the stationing of bases or a positioning area for missile defence in Eastern Europe, which we believe is aimed at neutralising our nuclear missile potential. Russia therefore faces a need to take retaliatory action.

What has happened over at Russia is that what little democracy they had managed to gain since the fall of Soviet Union, it has mostly gone. I am not certain how it happened, but Putin pretty much runs the whole show, most likely even when he isn't the president anymore.
Sucks because I have to live pretty much next to them.

Two. ;) Honestly I don't think the average Russian factors much into anything Russia does as a whole so it wouldn't matter what their average IQ was. It might be really high considering Soviet efforts at teaching everybody to read for example. Russia is a weird and scary country. Much rather live here, even if we did just re-elect the stupid conservatives in our province.
Funny that the Russians and Chinese want to ban space weapons. Only reason I can see them wanting that is a fear they won't keep up technologically or economically in that kind of arms race. Russia used to have military space stations.

its alright FATAL, you're 250,000 soldiers and 30 tanks took on their 1,500,000 men and 6,500 tanks before and you can do it again!

Yeah, don't worry, we'll contribute our 300,00 men, 50 tanks, four submarines (recently upgraded to go under water), two frigates, four destroyers, 12 F-18s with cracked wings, and nine helicopters that aren't technically air worthy anymore! It'll work! We promise! We can send all 100 Mounties on horseback too! :D

thx guise. Only they have da choppas now. D;
Nah, I don't really fear that a war will break out, at least between Russia and Finland. Kosovo is a whole different matter, and it could be cold war all over again, West supporting independent Kosovo and Serbs and Russia trying to merge it back to Serbia. Russia has flashed the possibility of military action, so there is reason for some concern.
The deal about Serbs and Kosovo is quite an interesting one. Despite the Serbs slaughtering Albans back in the 90s pretty hard, and having superiour military and all, they're claiming that they're afraid of Kosovo starting to do the same to Serbs.

You have to wonder why if Kosovo is their cultural heartland they didn't just keep up their population enough to keep the Albanians in control. This is one thing to keep in mind. Outbreeding muslim immigrants to your region isn't a bad thing. Those muslims in Ontario asking for sharia law were WAY over the line. Fortunately Canada's constitution doesn't really allow direct evil yet; it only allows evil by proxy.

That's always the thought when going into war, then it turns into World War 1 or The Iraq War and ends up costing horrendous amounts of lives and lasts for years...
Heh, wow Russia seems kinda crazy now... I was born there, and America is pretty much awesome... St. Petersburg is tight tho...
