View Full Version : Searching for the Doom2.wad

I'm not talking about a wad for a specific map or a specific program for the game, I mean that I need the DOOM2.Wad for the game itself. I just downloaded DOOM64 Absolution (and yes, I own DOOM64) for the PC, and I need the DOOM2.Wad to run this game properly.
I already own DOOM, DOOM2, and Master Levels (both on my DOOM3 and DOOM3: RoE), so this is a completely legal matter. I don't need the game, I don't need launch programs, I only need the wad so that I can execute Absolution.
So, anyone know where I can find this?

On the disk that has Doom 2. You may have to install it anyway just to get it, if it is all compressed.

I mean that I own the three games because I have them on DOOM3 and RoE, not because I have them for the PC. So I need a place where I can download the wad so I can apply it to the Absolution directory.

you don't need to find the file on the innernet. use explorer to search thru the discs for the IWADS.

Seriously, if you own the games as claimed, you should be able to find the wad on your disk.

I can find the wads on my DOOM3 and DOOM3: RoE discs for the X-Box? Tell me how?

You never specified your copies were for Xbox. There's nothing we can help you with there as far as I know. Sorry.

You could simply point me to a site that has the wad, since I own the game legally already, but oh well. My friend can probably get the wad for me.

Hmm, I don't recall there being a Doom2 shareware version.

We're not allowed to talk about warez sites here, regardless of if you legitimately own the game or not. About the best we can tell you is to search for "doom2.wad" on google.

Okay; i'll try that. Meanwhile, are there any videos for Nightmare runs on classic DOOM? I'm interested in the concept. Thanks.

Go to youtube.com and search for "Nightmare runs on classic DOOM"
sheesh. doing that is easier than signing up in a forum.

For Doom speedrunning, including NightMare! runs, look at COMPET-N (http://www.doom2.net/~compet-n/index.cgi) (though it hasn't been updated in years, so now we mostly post our runs at the Doomworld Speed Demos forum or the Doomed Speed Demos Archive (http://www.doomworld.com/sda/doom_sda.htm))

Here is doom2.wad, this works perfectly with Absolution. Get the complete Iwad.

This is true, Freedoom would work as well. I completely forgot about it.

Yet I believe Freedooms doom2.wad is missing some resources so Absolution might be missing some things in game. I'm willing to be proven wrong on this ... ;)

There are missing resources but they are not totally missing, they are filled in temporary replacements.
I have played Aboslution and finished without noticing anything missing. Absolution also uses little if any actual resources from doom2.wad anyway, they are all replaced since it is a TC. Playing with either doom2.wad will have little difference.
