Tomb Of Omhotep for Doom2 (running under Doomsday)

I've been working on this one for a LONG time, and now I believe it's ready for release to the general public. I released a version for some beta testing, but it had a couple problems. I have fixed those issues, and now everything works as it should.

This .PK3 is a 5 level wad for Doom2; with new textures, sound effects, a few sprites, and a little scripting. This may run on other engines, but the special effects will not be displayed.

I tested this with Doomsday 1.9 beta 4 & beta 5.1 and it seems to work fine. The only issue seems to be with the 3D sound setting in the audio control panel. Depending on the setting, the waterfall sound effect is heard through the entire map regardless of distance from the source. Change the 3D Sound setting to "NO" and it should take care of the problem.

If you find any issues, let me know ASAP and I'll get them fixed.

I'd appreciate any feedback from folks who play this one.

Level 2 is just about guaranteed to drive you crazy. It's supposed to... Try not to use IDDT if at all possible.

Save your ammo for level 5 or at least save the game a few times in earlier levels. Level 5 only has enough ammo to top off your supplies, but not arm you enough to complete the map.

damn omfg, what's wrong with you, ur so sadistic!, lol j/k, awesome map, very confusing after the first one. Level 5 took almost forever b/c that damn bridge... but very nice :) i loved it.
how long did it take you exactly? b/c im making my map still, and it's not even close for release. it's going to be just one big humongous map. so far at about 60,000 side defs, and somewhere close to 15,000 sectors, and takes about a minute to save, and i've been working on that for almost a month :D

i love the detail in ur map though, and the second map is like a maze, which is kinda like mine, except ur's has hidden walls, and brightness set to 0. awesome texturing, and alignment also, highly replayable in any difficulty.
also, another question: how long have you been making maps for?

oh, and in the second map, after i got the blue key (took a few tries, died from crushers a lot), i tried getting the red key for the first time, then it teleported me all the way to the other end of the map with no key, so i hada try and get it again... might be of ur intentions though

I'm glad you liked it.

The second map is intentionally made to be absolutely infuriating, hence the level name. I intended it to be cramped with a feeling of unease, so I scaled down the map and switched the music from map05 into the level. The "dead" spaces really help the effect, too. It's so easy for something to just appear from the darkness and hopefully scare the crap out of you.

Yes, the red key teleporter is supposed to do that to you. Try it from one of the other sides... *smirk* It is possible to easily get through level 2 while only having to kill 5 enemies. Open the wrong door, and you'll wish there was a helluva lot more ammo.

This is only the second .wad file that I've ever released to the public. I started mapping back in the days of DOS (1996 to be specific) using the Deth editor. I mostly made deathmatch wads for a small group that I played against, but that was about it. I made another .wad called UACTech, but never released it. I posted it on this site last year and got a few good replies, but the maps needed some work. I've been revising it with some scripting, adding more detail to the levels, and adding a few more levels. It's going to be awhile before I can call it good, but it won't be too long. Doombuilder is SO much easier to use and swap back and forth between editing and testing!

I'm now in the second map of your wad. So far I'm very pleased at what I see. The mood is very good, and the effects you've used distinguish it very well from the usual stuff. Since I haven't written a review in some time, I just might make one of this one. That is, if I figure out where I'm supposed to go, but that's another matter.

Knowing that there's a baron in the labyrinth was very unsettling. When I finally met it, I jumped from my chair. Hard wad you've got there!

Well done mate!

Fatal, How goes the play testing? I'm glad to hear the baron made you jump. I've done that a couple times myself while I was working on the level.

I can think of a couple areas that could be improved, but overall I think it's not a bad wad.

I'm looking forward to reading a review if you write one.

Hasn't gone anywhere. I rarely play Doom on weekdays, for some reason. Hang on, you'll get your review. ;)

Exellent wad! Great level design, and cool new textures and effects. It would be perfect if it weren't so easy. (besides the infernal maze, which took me a half hour to finish. :D)

Great work.
