Ah, just another remake of doom 2 map07, but wait, this one looks to be quite interesting, upon further review of this map, you may just find yourself not asking the question, does this map live up to doom 2 map07, but does doom 2 map07 live up to this map. With many fine, FINE details spread among the arena, this map is a sure fire hit to bring the house down. Better watch out, you may find yourself distracted in a match by the very beautiful eye candy laid around the level.

The layout is not too different when compared to doom 2 map07, with the exception of a little bits around the outside edges, and the location of the exit. The exact size of this map, makes one that is not too big or small for the competitors, in fact, this level maybe be a very good match between anywhere from 2 - 6 players. The detail this map shows really gives this level a glow not seen in many others. Having perfect lighting and lighting placement, as well as great visual details like the outside lava area near the plasma gun, really gives this level flavor and gives you a feeling that you are in an actual place and not just a doom map. The great level of detail this map exercises is definitely one that isn't too detailed(a.k.a. gothic99) but one that is detailed enough to have the most hardcore player drooling on this keyboard.

Playing through this level with friends is to be a sure delight. With many great weapon locations while providing a great amount of ammo to destroy your opposition. Although these locations are pretty nice, I believe the plasma gun and bfg might be a bit easy to get and you may come across some newbie that you know is going to camp in the little bfg alcove waiting for some mass death outside his chamber before unleashing some destruction of his own. Point blank, watch for campers in the center bfg room. Another worry is about the plasma spammers, with the plasma gun being so easy to get, it can't help but to draw players upon its existence to become a player that you will find running around the level with that fire button mashed and frying the competition. Some details with in the level really complement gameplay though as well, such as the windows added to the inside of the arena that allow for some nice kill without the risk of too much health.

Overall this level make good uses of its space. There is really no corner left undetailed and clearly the author had thought ahead of time in terms of gameplay, with nice designs to give gameplay that extra punch. The easy access weaponry is a signature feature of any doom 2 map07 clone, but this map offers its weapons in great fashion. The only real complaint is that the bfg and plasma gun may be a bit too easy to get for the taste of a great deathmatch, finding noobs camping in the bfg room may become a habit. Yet with so many great things that this level has to offer, this is a definite recommendation to all that would like to get on a little deathmatch game that will deal out some great gameplay.

This level deserves its 8 out of 10.
