DoomFate is a deathmatch level created by DSM. This level has a very nice layout spreading detail on almost every surface. The gameplay of this level is also very interesting, dealing with the different height levels makes this a challenging deathmatch to any player. This level showed great originality by including a setting and detail that has not been seen among many wads. Overall I think this level is a very good choice for a deathmatch event of the evening.
============
Layout - 9
============
The layout of this level is nicely done. The detail gives this layout more of a realistic feeling by giving the level more depth upon its highest layer. It also gives some nice detail when dealing with technical consoles and its doors, giving you that feeling of being in the middle of a huge factory. A nice bit of thought was put into this layout, allowing multiple ways to the top floor, while still keeping the layout interesting on the bottom by giving it its own varied height levels. The bottom has little bit of different heights with its creates and tech details.
============
GamePlay - 7
============
Not only does the height difference make for some nice gameplay, it also uses the jump feature that is implemented in most doom engines today. However, its jumping locations aren't very numerous leaving to question, the reason of having the jump feature required in the first place. There are tons of weapons laid out for players to have some fragging fun. I think the plasma could have been a little harder to get though, once you have that plasma gun its pretty pointless to get another weapon in this level. The end of each section makes a very good sniping point using the shotgun.
============
Originality - 9
============
The very theme of this level speak varied languages of originality. Having a theme of being in the middle of a base left a lot of room open to add plenty of detail that would make this level as much fun to play as it is beautiful.
============
Overall - 8 - This level is great fun to play, it would make a great level for a deathmatch of the evening.
============
+ Varied height levels and awesome details give this level depth.
+ A lot of attention to the gameplay in terms of maneuverability among the different height levels.
+ Interesting theme, makes this level very nice.
- Jump feature didn't seem really required.
- Plasma gun is too easy to get.
