Overall Review Score: 7.5/10 - Above Average
If you ever wondered what it would look like if Quake and Doom had kids which both of them wanted to keep, then look no further. If you are a fan of one or both game series, you will LOVE this tribute to the FPS frag filled genre. And besides one or two minor ick points, I find it hard to find much at fault with this pack.

Quake graphics, doom baddies, and a good amount of challenge are all within....waiting to be experienced. You'll also find such features as: Interactable cameras/monitors, a story based objective system, and more. This is definately one you may want to play more than once...guaranteed.

Graphics/Lighting: Score: 7.5/10 - Above Average
Most graphics are quake based, and are used very nicely in most(if not all) areas. You will feel like you are in a doom game, but one fulle of quake nostalgia.....seen and felt with every step.

Areas are either properly lighted or darkened in almost all areas, with a few nice lighting effects/flickers in ZDoomGL. Which, as I must bring up, should only be used on PCs with Windows XP if you REALLY want the bit of extra graphical quality that using it brings....as using it takes a bit of fiddling with compatibility settings to work the first time.

Weapon/Health Placement: Score: 7.5/10 - Above average
Weapons and ammo, as well as health, can be found in several good locations(i.e. when you need it, or before) throughout each level......and you will always have something to frag some something evil with, as long as you don't constantly shoot at thin air anyways, and keep from being a paper target. Placement at first is also progressive, meaning you will get basic weapons first, and have some better ones as you go.

Monster placement: Score: 7.5/10 - Above average
The monsters you'll face will give you a challenge, there's no doubt about it.....no matter what level of experience you have with doom or FPS games in general. The numbers and placement are both very good, although a few more in some areas might not have hurt... but other than that, the baddies shine in most respects. They will also definately keep you occupied, mark my words.

Praises –
Nice homage to Quake and doom.
Balanced challenge for most players.
Objective/storyline usage.
Realistic layouts on most levels.
Duke3D style camera monitors.

Cons –
ZDoomGL, the port needed for "best" graphics(supposedly), doesn't improve the look much... and it also takes extra steps to run the port in XP.
Keycard/etc doors aren't marked as such.

Level by level
Map 1 - Strike Base - Short and straightforward level, with a semi-linear layout.....this is where you were supposed to prep for the oncoming mission, but the demons had other plans for this outpost on the outer fringes of insanity. ***It may seem easy for most players, but the first level of most map packs is. Collect ammo and health, and find your way to the exit, while enjoying the nice scenery along the way.***

Map 2 - Power Plant - Looks like there's been a major battle at the power generation center. Find a way to restore power, and get the main exit doors open, so you can tear outta there. ***Similar textures to level 1, with the addition of some nice force field effects in some areas.***

Map 3 - Logistics - After missing the escape shuttle, you trudge on towards the logistics center......after being notified that recent activity was up quite a bit, even though it had been abandoned recently to demon attack. What are the demons up to? Find out, and don't die trying. ***Medium sized warehouse type level with a few simple puzzles to get through, and one or two logic based secrets. One or two misaligned or raised textures, not no major bugs.***

Map 4 - Facility 6b - You are alone, with only minimal equipment and no backup. All you know now is that the fiends have control of the complex's communications laser array....and are most likely gathering intel to use against you and earth. Shut the facility down, and kck some ass while you're at it. ***A mid sized map with a few odd textures and misalignments, but nothing to upset gameplay too much. Some areas can be visited in a non-linear order, giving some freedom to players. Good amount of baddies to keep you ocupied as well.***

Map 5 - Slipgate - Now you've finally made it.......the research facility, but something isn't right. The power is off for most areas, and flickering emergency lights do their best to illuminate what's ahead. Restore power, and find the Slipgate....or die trying. ***Mostly linear BOSS level, with a few short objectives and extra baddies thrown into the mix for fun. One of the best looking of the levels, it's also a challenge in some respects. No stated objectives after this map***

Map 6 - Dark Realm - You had heard before that a Marine detachment had been sent into the slipgate complex ahead of you....and that some never reported in afterwards. Now you see why. The Slipgate has plunged you into another world, maybe even another time. The demons never expected you to get this far, so show them what complacency has earned them.....by sending them to their maker in multiple body bags. ***Short linear wilderness style level, with a few nice looking areas towards the end, and a small group of demons to kill.***

Map 7 - Atermis - That is the first word you see, written in blood, as you arrived wherever you are now. But what does it mean? Looking from a high parapet, you see the vast desolate landscape below, and wonder how you'll ever get out of this situation. You even think you hear screams coming from deep inside.......human screams. ***A fortress/sewer type level, with nice shaded fogging in most outer areas.***

Map 8 - Dark Cathedral(Dark Cathadral) - No telling how far you were sent, you stumble into a canyon.....trying to get your bearings. After killing a few sentries, you spot a structure in the distance. It appears to be a temple, but not of any faith you can recognise. Even the demons you see seem out of place here......seemingly here of a different, almost alien purpose. And a voice calls out to you, and asks you to heed it's words, but from where? And why is it calling you? ***Possible bug: After killing the last enemy in the "pentegram" room, the door won't open from the inside.....so stay outside and finish the baddie off from there.***
***This is a stunningly detailed, mid-sized level.....both in texture usage and level layout. The dark ambiance and usage of sound also adds to the level, and there are many areas to explore before the level becomes too linear......as well as several puzzles.***

Map 9 - Temple of Deceit(Temple of Decite) - Humanoid bodies splayed to either side of you, hideous sights to all sides......this is what you see when you reach the other side of the gate. Is this hell, or something worse? ***This medium sized level is comprised of several nice puzzles and a few lava pits for good measure, the latter if which adds nice coloring to plasma weapon effects and some enemies. There is also a wording mistake in the last "mission" of this level, as you need red/yellow keys and not red/blue, but it doesn't cause any noticeable problems.***

Map 10 - Blood Chalice(Blood Chaliace) - Seems like you've entered a private fortress of some sort, and guess who isn't invited. Somewhere in the distance, you could swear you hear meanacing laughter.....almost daring you to come closer. ***Semi-short level, with a few monsters.....leading up to the final level.***

Map 11 - The Four Elders - Battle worn and nearly exhausted, you stumble into what appears to be an elaborately built inner sanctum......full of grim imagery and a sense of foreboding. Somewhere, something sinister and ancient waits, waiting to exact revenge for it's fallen brethren.....guarding something very important to all mankind. Will you let what happened to the people of this land happen to earth? Kick butt, and mail it back to hell in bloody chunks. ***Short, yet very nice looking end/boss level....as well as one secret and a simple puzzle.***
