I'm looking for something that can do to Heretic what DeHacked/WhackEd can do to Doom.. I would love to do some modification like that but I have no way to do it.
I hope of even getting an answer before Christmas, such an inactive part of the forum ...

Yes, there is one called the Heretic Hack Editor (can be abbreviated to HereHackEd), which creates "hhe" patches. It's essentially a Heretic version of dehacked, made by the same guy, Greg Lewis (Tree).

Note that it doesn't work with Heretic 1.3 (just 1.0, 1.1 and 1.2). I don't know if there is a way to get it to work with 1.3 - you'd need to check with someone who really understands the workings of it and the differences between the exes.

I can't make it to find my heretic.wad, I point it to the wad but it says its not found. I used DosBox.. I've never got Dehacked to work either... only Whacked.
I guess there isnt anything else... well, thanks anyway...
EDIT : Note that I have no idea what version the game is. Or does that come automaticly with the 2 additional episodes? If so, well... too bad, I won't take that program then.
Still, if there is any other program that works like Whacked (could only hope) I would be glad to know it.

If it has five episodes, then it is 1.3. You can create a copy of 1.2 as follows (backing up your 1.3 first, of course):
1.3->1.0 downgrade: http://www.doomworld.com/idgames/index.php?id=12955
1.0->1.2 upgrade: http://ftp.chg.ru/pub/games/idgames/idstuff/heretic/10_12rhp.exe
(1.0->1.2 upgrade info txt: http://ftp.chg.ru/pub/games/idgames/idstuff/heretic/10_12rhp.txt)
In order to use either dehacked.exe or hhe.exe, you will probably need to edit the ini file. You can do this in Notepad or similar, and it really isn't complicated. Probably the only things you'll need to change are the file locations. You'll also need to make sure that the paths to them are valid DOS names/locations (no spaces, no more than 8 characters). So put everything in c:\heretic and you'll be fine. Don't be intimidated by the ini file - most of the lines in there (those starting with "#") are just comments, so the number of "real" lines is quite small.
I would guess that hhe files will work with most ports that support Heretic, but I'm not certain about that.

Actually, HHE files don't work with any port to my knowledge. ZDoom can't handle them for sure (and Randy said more than once that he doesn't plan to change this) and I also couldn't find anything in Legacy's source.
So if you use them you are pretty much left with an outdated version of the original EXE.

Kind of a shame if no ports support it.I don't know if there is a way to get it to work with 1.3I did a bit of research, and it seems there is. The following lines are needed in the ini file:
version = 0
size = 728031
thingoff = 617600
soundoff = 639734
frameoff = 583860
spriteoff = 583348
ammooff = 635780
weaponoff = 636204
textoff = 563284
codepoff = 258020(Data from here (http://www.yossman.net/~tree/_doom.html).)
Note that there are some minor incompatibilities, as mentioned at the bottom of that page.
This also works with Heretic-plus (http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=148658&package_id=227155) (limit-extending hack of Heretic 1.3).

Well if HHE files aren't working with any ports, you can stop searching I guess... I can't play on the original exe, and even if I could I would not.
And still, even with all the help, it still says he can't find my heretic.wad... seems like there is something wrong with it. Oh well, thanks for all the help anyway but I guess I will do without that.

I wasn't just posting for your benefit - I was posting in case this information was of interest to anyone reading this forum, or looking up this topic at some point in the future. (That's one of the purposes of having a forum, rather than just private messaging.)

Well, I think that heretic and hexen exe hacking is under-used.
Note there is also Hexen exe editor, just like the Heretic one. Though Hexen exe editor works with DosBox only, at least on my comp.
