first of all i have to say thumbs up to doom 3 i don't care who disagrees but com'n it was good it was in fact scary for a video game which can be hard to acheive i think it really captures the darkness and is a hell of alot better then any resident evil or silent hill crap, u may ask why? well it's scary as hell and well it's a fps therefore more exciting and intense. and omg i really hope raven doesnt' take over doom 4 if thereis one cause well look at quake 4, i would love to see some more of doom 3ish type of game with doom 4 only with improved graphics to the extreme with our nex gensystems think of the possibilities and honestly i want this game to scare the crap out of me and it's not easy to scare me maybe the doom 2 type thing with some hell on earth could be cool but honestly how many old school doom fans are playing doom 2 anyway we like the original doom right cause hell on earth been done alot aliens in space been done but demons in space that's doom it's futuristic if we have outbreakon earth does that not say halo 2 with demons? i dunno i'm just rantng but I want reply's to this post damnit! i want to hear other's opinions.

Yeah, Doom was somewhat chilling at times, but it got really boring after a while.

I recommend you start structuring your sentences a bit better, as your post was pretty much a pain in the ass to read. Use periods 'n' shit.

doom 3 is a hell of alot better then any resident evil or silent hill crap, u may ask why?
Well, your article is almost unreadable.

And comparing FPS to survival horror games is kinda silly. Doom 3 scary? Uh. Well, not that RE or SH (lol, I have to laugh every time I seen those laughable SH adversaries :D ) are scary. But definitelly more scary than pathetic save here, save there Doom 3, mainly because of game concept.

I am afraid I have to agree with doubts regarding Raven - some of their later games (like Elite Force or Quake 4) are all without essence. They look really nice but well, are boring as hell - or not exactly boring, but not entertaining too *ugh*

Please check out the forum newbie FAQ rules (http://forums.newdoom.com/faq.php?faq=forum_rules#faq_sentence_structure) before posting. We've added a new rule, for just this case, with thanks to you.first of all i have to say thumbs up to doom 3 i don't care who disagrees but com'n it was good it was in fact scary for a video game which can be hard to acheive i think it really captures the darkness and is a hell of alot better then any resident evil or silent hill crap, u may ask why? well it's scary as hell and well it's a fps therefore more exciting and intense. and omg i really hope raven doesnt' take over doom 4 if thereis one cause well look at quake 4, i would love to see some more of doom 3ish type of game with doom 4 only with improved graphics to the extreme with our nex gensystems think of the possibilities and honestly i want this game to scare the crap out of me and it's not easy to scare me maybe the doom 2 type thing with some hell on earth could be cool but honestly how many old school doom fans are playing doom 2 anyway we like the original doom right cause hell on earth been done alot aliens in space been done but demons in space that's doom it's futuristic if we have outbreakon earth does that not say halo 2 with demons? i dunno i'm just rantng but I want reply's to this post damnit! i want to hear other's opinions.

Well I hope that rule won't be used too often. I don't think that poor English skills are very often intentional.

Naw, we're not talking about the exhibition of English skills to be turned in for a book report.*book* ;)
This is still a forums: the exchange of ideas. Towards that end, we want to encourage clarity, as informal and relaxed here as we are. *zzz* *byte*
However, some things are intentional, and some things aren't "intentional" persay; but they're still avoidable, by reasonable standards. Like that above obvious case in point. *angry* *guilty* *evilol*

It scares me how many people I meet who can't write in sentences. Some of them are disabled and some of them just never bothered to learn. There are other scary things that go along with it. Things I see at work (commited by people who otherwise appear intelligent enough...):

People don't capitalize their name (or anything else)
People can't spell "America" (including the odd technician from an ISP)
People can't find America on a map. All these people are Americans BTW. Some of them aren't even embarrassed by that.
One guy said he had a "lower case 1" in his password.
People think the internet somehow magically works when their computer is off.
And one sad guy thought you could get a virus through using somebody else's AC adapter.

I don't generally list things as stupidity that you might think I would. Some people just really don't know that you can't download more RAM. I forgive them for that; computers are confusing.

I like it better when people try and structure their posts but I'd prefer to keep nagging them over it rather than ban them. They might learn something. I'm still learning how to be better at that! :)

Shouldn't there be a rule about using unnecessary emoticons too? :P

Shouldn't there be a rule about using unnecessary emoticons too? :PWe do have a smilie/image post limit. I guess they could all be considered unnecessary. *whatever* <-- Whoops!
But they are fun.

A little more on topic post.
I think Doom 4 will be on earth, why?
Doom 3 was Doom one episode 1-2
Doom 3 ROE was 3-4.
Whats next? Doom 4 is episode 5 aka Doom 2. Hell on Earth.

I Predict DooM4 will be out right after DNF....:)

Doom 3 isn't doom 1 and 2. Doom 2:Hell on Earth. Doom 3 is Mars and hell, solely. And about Doom 3, it wasn't scary, and it was ridiculously easy. I think they should've enabled Split-screen multiplayer. That would've made the game a bit more enjoyable. Not saying Doom 3 was bad, it was actually pretty good. Just too easy.

isn't doom4 the cell phone doom? i have had it for a week and assumed it picked up after doom 3.....
Who in god's name knows when DNF or IF DNF will be out, a Doom 4 WILL come out-it WILL sell, so it WILL come out.

Final Doom is a pair of Doom 2 megawads. They're not much different.

Something like Doom 2 would be good. Running off the improved Doom 3 Engine that Quake Wars is running on with the whole earth environment. ROE was just... well... an expansion :P to the mars story.

To tell you the truth, I would not like DooM 4 to come out. It would prove that DooM is a truly commerciallized series (unless it is really awesome, in which case, bring it on!). DooM 3 was indeed scary at times, although mostly it played like a normal, dark-death-hell style FPS, which in no ways means it was bad. If a DooM 4 does come out, it would have to be pretty damn amazing for me to actually consider buying it (I would probably buy it anyway, but it might not impress me).
Something Like DooM 2... no not really. To tell you the truth, DooM 3 isn't really DooM 3 at all (although the title is catchy). It's a much-improved Doom I. Should that mean that DooM 4 be a much-improved DooM 2? No. That doesn't mean that it shouldn't have Earth in it. Just not the same game (although 3 and 1 weren't exactly the same...).
But right now, instead of a new DooM coming out, I would want a whole new game to come out (new as in not DooM-related). It could of course have elements of previous games, but the game also has to be fresh.

Um... *cough* am I the only one that was really bugged by this?

Also, as for Doom 4, I say... no. Doom may very well be my favorite game of all time, but Doom 3 could have been much better. I think if they're going to make a new Doom game, I'd like Id software to actually do it themselves instead of sitting on their lazy butts and creating subpar multiplayer modes to go along with a game that they didn't really create themselves.

I would like Doom 4 to come out, but only if they really did it up for this one. Doom 3 was such a disappointment.

Well, I do agree with you on the no to DooM 4, but what's all this about ID sitting on their "lazy butts and creating subpar multiplayer modes to go along with a game that they didn't really create themselves." ID didn't make DooM 3? Really? WTF? I don't get it.

WTH? Are you sure about what you are talking about? what in the.... made you think that they did't do doom 3 by themselfs? Do you have any idea of what id have done? how they have changed the gaming technology? Does it ring any bell when i say that they made the mega texture techology?

would there been any Quake 4, Doom 3 Resurrection of Evil, Prey, and of all: Enemy Territory Quake Wars, if it was't for id and their 4 YEARS long development of doom 3?

Well, actually, there might have been. That is to say, if somebody actually thought of those ideas without there being a DooM 3 (which they very well could have).

Ok, maybe I said that wrong. What I was really getting at was that ID seems to be having other people make the SP portions of their games more and more frequently. Their greatest games were the ones they did all by themselves, and lately their games have been getting a little less awesome. (*Cough* Quake 4)

And the multiplayer for most of their new games aren't really all that great. Quake 4's multiplayer was really just a watered down version of Quake 3, and Doom 3's multiplayer was just really generic (although that may be because a lot of Doom 3 in general was kind of generic, still a good game though).

So subpar may have been too strong a word, but what I really meant was ID has been making mostly multiplayer stuff, and having Raven do the rest. And Raven isn't that bad, but they're no ID. Or more precisely, they're no 90's ID.

It's just the whole "they were better way back when" thing. It's probably just me, I do it aaaaaaaaaall the time.

I didn't feel like the deleting the stuff that wasn't there. Anyway, so THAT'S what you meant. Well I have to agree with you on most parts. Although the whole SP thing, well when you say ID, I think of more of computer games, so it's understandable-ish.
For the multiplayer, well I agree. There's nothing really special about DooM 3 multiplayer. But then again, I'm not sure how you can make a revolutionary multiplayer from a non-revolutionary game.
ID already did make a revolutionary game, the original DooMs (1-2). So you gotta give them credit there. Although, once again, I agree, the 90s were much better than DooM 3 (it's still a good game, though).
