Atmosphere is breathtaking on so many levels, a screenshot wouldn't honor the actual experience :) . As of yesterday, you could see a few images on the WIP site, though.
Just one suggestion, Jet, use Zennode *smirk*

what do you mean use zennode? i use it all the time. thats just the way it is. thanks for the compliment though.
and thats kind of true-screenshots won't give you the ingame feeling, if not tonight, tommorrow i will post screenshots. the ones on wip are from later levels in the game, which are being drastically overhauled anyway.
its like the ultimate DooM ForeveR but INSANELY AMPED.

Well, atmos.wad was 19.4 MB (20,401,472 bytes) and became 13.7 MB (14,426,369 bytes) after I used Zennode on it with the default settings. Something must have changed.

i don't know what to say other than i use zennode every time i save a map. this is just the demo mind you. maybe its becasue i deleted the other maps or something. whatever, this is supposed to be my doom opus. :)

Heh, the demo is really cool Jetflock !
I took a bunch of screenshots before I knew about you guys posting some up.
I dig it, very cool underwater effects too ;)
Ah yeah after you remove maps and things, XWE kind of unfolds it a bit, using it's cleanup feature helps a ton.
Oh and hey Scuba !*wave*

I'm replaying it, what an awesome level. Too bad I'm on a 2ghz, it really lags down to 0 fps in certain areas.

Downloading... I´ll try to play and be amazed tonight. Hope it keeps with The Ultimate Doom Forever level of polish and fun.
Edit: The rocket launcher dude got me almost at the end... Damn, I was so close!!. Anyway, first impressions... At first I wasn´t sure that I liked it, then I came to think that I liked The Ultimate Doom Forever more and now I think that this Atmosphere Demo rocks... I absolutely love it so bring it on Jetflock!!!. Have you thought about making it episodic and releasing it little by little?.

Well, hell... Bandwidth limit? There's rapidshare or a half dozen other free upload sites to use. I had been keeping an eye on this project for a while and wanted to play it... but Geocities didn't want me to.
This is moot now since there is a mirror :P

i think you can right click on it, as Rocket has told me....but you can't run legacy right? gzdoom would fuck my map up, giving you enough juice to give me one shitty review. once my body stops being in pain i will check into file sharing websites. sorry, that sounds strange, but thats all i have to say about that.
poop.

yes, very much so, the thing is i may change alot of the resource, so i don't know. its kinda strange because i REALLY don't map like this anymore, especially after AMADEUS-this map is essentially 3 years old.
the next release will most likely either be map01 + the 5 other maps, or renovated map01 and resource + 5 maps, OR just map02.
i haven't really touched this mapset in a long time, and now I have this strange personal expectation-especially considering Doomworld is waiting to shit on me, and run this thing in a non-legacy port.

Legacy works fine on my machine (with most maps), and I had a chance to play the demo last night when I should have been working :P
The new map has potential, a marked improvement over the orignal Doom forever. But it feels like a real mixed bag. Which makes sense, when you described this map as being very old. The opening with the cliff face protruding over the canyon looks particularly nice, I happen to like the blue look to the rocks. The Underwater sections are nice, but I hate the puffer fish and find them to be horribly overpowered. Some of the facility looks well done, the mess hall and contamination place in particular, but others sections feel very dated and crude. I am personally not a fan of lens flare, but that is a personal opinion and won't hold it against the map... but I seem to see a bunch of lens flare just floating randomly in the air around the map. I don't think that's intentional, but I don't know what's causing it.
Other than getting lost a few times, the map was decent. Some of the shots on the website are what have really struck my fancy and kept me in touch with the project, and hopefully I'll get to see them soon since, as you said yourself, those are the much newer maps which show off your talent better.

i love the puffer fish, and i wouldn't have him any other way.lol.the lens flare is intentional. there was a side story of sorts having to do with "strange electrical anomolies"-mainly you see this in the first area-UAC built the place in a natural energy location-blah blah blah- I just like coronae! :), alot of the level IS intentional-again- I really prefer my work on AMADEUS over map01 from ATMOSPHERE-but ATMOSPHERE was made to be sort of hallucinogenic.heh, i moreso want to create a new feeling or impression than a map.
Thank you for the compliments.
edit: still my favorite thing is the cheesy ninja-gaiden intro.
edit: though, I like some structures really simplified-simplified in a real world way. that is how i think a facility like that may be integrated into an alien turrain, think panels that connect with eachother, spread over rock.
some of atmoshere is dulce base inspired, some is cloud city, one map was endor. i am trying to put themes in.

Just a couple of questions. Can you tell us more about the dream behind that awesome tune from the demo?, how many deathmatch levels are we getting?.
Thanks in advance.
...seriously, I'm developing a fetish for this project :D

Thanks man. Its just that the people who constantly want the same type of maps produced will never accept or appreciate my work. Newdoom is also a smaller part of the doom community, the only part that could possibly enjoy my stuff. I have a few lurkers with a bias towards my maps, and only show up to shit on them.
The level of detail they expect is:
not my style
too complicated for such a big map
doesn't fit in with MY view of an outpost on an alien world
and is almost impossible due to size, sprite limitations, and sidedef limitations.
they don't seem to understand my view of "simplicity" and "atmosphere"-and my love of flowing "clean" lines, i am all about organic lines.
I do not fit in here and will prolly stop dooming soon. maybe i would do an occasional newdoom community project because I really like working with the forum members here-maybe i will release what i have of atmosphere "as-is", or donate it as a base for a newdoom/legacy community project(which would die really fast, lol).
all in all, i like most everyone here at newdoom, but i am starting to feel my maps are a waste of time.

Well, you cant controll others; and mind you, I dont quite think one of your maps was hated at doomworld (that map01 remake) but I havnt seen any others reveiwed over there.
About the people taking a dump on your project, do they matter? Honestly... do they?
I mean you made that project for me right?? *grin* kidding, but you get what Im trying to say.
Also, if they have anything to complain about, its that they want to complain. :P
"not my style"
>_> ... have you SEEN what sorts of opinions doomers have? (of course you have haha... youve been around longer than I have...) sorry for linking to doomworld, but : http://www.doomworld.com/vb/showthread.php?threadid=39654
Im only posting this because I want you to know that people like and dislike whatever, reguardless of what any one else thinks.
"too complicated for such a big map"
Yeah, I have this problem... Its called detailing on the 2x2 grid, or making custom textures :(... I cant seem to map very fast. So I agree that it would be hard to please people by adding more things to a huge map.
"doesn't fit in with MY view of an outpost on an alien world"
Haha, well... If it dont fit, dont wear it.
"and is almost impossible due to size, sprite limitations, and sidedef limitations."
Thats because they 3 > Zdoom, but oh well... not everything is black and white between all ports, I mean if it was... then NO ONE would ever use the origional vanilla doom ever again! But they do... because its different.
"they don't seem to understand my view of "simplicity" and "atmosphere"-and my love of flowing "clean" lines, i am all about organic lines."
..... .... .... .... If they cant understand that... then they probably wouldnt feel a ton of bricks crushing them.
Rather than finishing it up right away... why not release it in packs? Like 3 different packs, and have the last one released when you are done with it... that way, if your really looking for other people to enjoy what you allready have, they can; and maby you can get some of that insparation back! :)
Anywho... Im like *annoyed* right now and *bug* <-- I look like this, its bed time for me!
[EDIT] Oh and one last thing, I wish I could map with some continuity... :( You seem to be good at it... the style is allways looking to me like a really nice comic type game...
