View Full Version : Help Changing Level Names

I don't know if it's a DeHackEd issue, or if it can be edited with WinTex somehow, but I am trying to figure out how to change the names of the levels, as they appear on the score and "entering" screens.
It's pretty easy to change them as they appear on the automap, it's in the text section of DeHackEd, but the regular names are still there on the between screens.
I have not tried editing the interpic yet, but as far as I can tell, that will just change the background graphic, but maybe I'm wrong about that.
Thanks.

Change the graphics, using XWE. Those names are all written in graphic lumps.

Use XWE or Wintex to change the level names during the Intermission screen. Use dehacked to change the names in the automap.
In XWE look for the graphics called CWILV00 - CWILV31.

There is a much easier way involving MAPINFO, but you will need to use ZDoom or GZDoom to take advantage of it. Reference this web-link for more information:

This thread is useful to you, you can download the bitmap font writer and the doom font from there.
Its an nice tool to make your own CWILV map names and its easy to work with.

Thanks everyone.
I can't believe what a bone-headed moment that was for me. Several days worrying about it, even at work, only to realize that they're graphic files like the title picture, the status bar, and the face.
