well, i think his situation is funny. though, alternative sources of energy could easily be swept out of our way by people in power, who happen to have huge steaks in oil and/or utilities.

Of course the thought has crossed my mind... and it shouldn't take long for anyone with half a brain to realise that strong economic powers making money off antiquated technology and being reluctant to invest in new technology may pose a hindrance to make "anti-gravity" a "publicly usable phenomenon" within 7 years(!!!). And yet, the thought doesn't seem to have ever occurred to him.

I mean, he says a lot of strange stuff, but that statement alone (whether he has a grossly simplified view of the world and how things work, he's just being insanely optimistic, or of course he's just naïve) invalidates his perception of reality. All other things he says must be taken with a ton of salt.

Oh ... well, yeah, it's plausible they screwed him over for more than he actually did. He seems to be very enthusiastic and doing just fine in that clip, though. I wouldn't lose any sleep over his fate. Just think of the lecture fees he'll be able to charge when he goes on a worldwide tour... or the revenue from book sales. ;-)

I too believe there is a free energy source out there as well, but for now I think the most efficient energy source is human energy. I saying we should have powerplants that run on multiple people on jogging shifts inside giant mouse wheels. People could get hired to run in a mousewheel for a certain amount of time, get paid for the hours they ran, then someone fills in for them. Of course one person couldn't power an entire city, so multiple mouse wheels and runners would be required. Is this possible? Is it not a good idea?
