Anyone else taken the plunge?

I've had no problems since installing it yesterday :)

I grabbed it yesterday before it was officially released. I downloaded a legit copy today just to be nice to the Mozilla guys and their statistics. :)

This thing is slick. All kinds of bugs just magically vanished AND it got faster! :D

Its doesn't hog as much memory either :)

Yeah, it's somehow smaller, faster, more stable, less buggy, and has more features. That trick is rare in the software world and I appreciate all the effort. This will have me pushing it on even more people. :D

Is anyone using that "other browser" that was also recently released? And clicking on the new darker blue E cuz it wasn't like that last time cuz auto update forced it on you does count.

Don't plan to install it myself, I don't use it unless I can't avoid it.

Holy Sh.... Firefox 2.0 is way improved. Everythings loading in half the time, and no bugs to speak of. Perfect :D

I've been using it in edgy since the pre-releases - and well - it's still a memory hog, my extensions broke, and it's not much faster.

It and Konqueror (which I almost never spell right) both are nice to run - but I prefer to see it called Bon Echo or IceWeasel due to some very odd practices from Mozilla Corporation.

Some of my extensions broke; all but one had updates by the end of yesterday. The one that didn't forced me to find something that turned out better than what I was using. :)

I've yet to find a better replacement for the extensions that are still not compatible with FF 2, so I guess I'll have to do without them.

Aliotroph?
October 25th, 2006, 09:56 AM
What extensions are those?

Nomad
October 25th, 2006, 10:02 AM
Just installed myself after seeing this thread (I had no idea there was a FF2 yet, else I would have installed as soon as it launched ;P ).

Only problem so far, is that some of my extensions don't work now, and my favorite skin isn't compatible anymore. Hopefully those'll be fixed soon.

[edit]Holy crap, is this a built in spell checker for textboxes that I'm seeing? Sick. Don't have much problem with spelling anyway, but this is nice.

Only a couple of my extensions are still broken (bloglines, xray, etc) nothing I can't live without.

I didn't check this out yet but I will soon. Guess I was just waiting to see if it was buggy or whatever....

Whats this about Firefox 2? Hmmm, would appear I'm behind. Time to download...

[edit]

Pretty slick indeed.

Either you need a faster connection, or you need some A.D.D. medication.

I can't believe it! I was waiting for a month for Firefox 2 to come out, and I forgot about it when it was released yesterday! But thanks to this thread, I got it a day late.

And I'll wait until Internet Explorer 7 is available on Windows Update before I download it. I'll never use it, but my parents will. They like Internet Explorer better than Firefox.

31.2K?!!? Wow, I thought that had vanished off the face of the planet! Now I don't feel as bad about my 56K connection.

Wow...Firefox 2 is HOT!

Thanks for the thread, I didn't think this was released until next month.

EDIT: Son of a dick. Something broke the Alt+S quick reply shortcut. *plop* /me clicks "Save" instead of slapping Alt+S

A variety of caching and translation extensions - that by some miracle have all but one updated today. (oh and my nexuswar extensions)

Hmmm....I'll have to definatly try this, I still use the old Firefox. It sounds like it's alot better.

You play Nexuswar? Indeed I do :) Same Nick, and I'm in the AoSG faction. Currently mortal, but looking at going Sorc -> Wiz

Important question is it free to play?

Yes - you get 3 characters for free, but I just play with one. (Chronic lack of time) http://www.nexuswar.com/

I got three characters. Ancient Osiris, currently Pariah going towards Void Walker in the Decepticons, Osiris The Ancient currently mortal, going for sorceror then liche in my own clan The Ancients Of Old and Osiris Doombringer, currently defiler, still deciding what to be next in the Scourge.

I am using Firefox 2 and finally all my addons have updated as well.

I installed IE7 for the fun of it and it disabled my antivirus. I reinstalled the antivirus and its all ok again, though bloody annoying. I have yet to actually use IE7 for anything, if at all.

I have to use Firefox to look at my hotmail cos IE won't open it, it keeps refreshing over and over while doing nothing, and that includes 7. Firefox opens it fast, with no fuss what so ever

Aliotroph?

Kind of ironic that you can't get Hotmail to open with IE. :D

After losing all my bookmarks the other day, I am thinking I may just try Firefox and see what it is like.

Aliotroph?

I find it quite pleasant. I have yet to see it do something like toast all my bookmarks and I've been using it since September 2003.

It's got a "cleaner" look to it than Netscape. I think you won't regret it. ;)

I just installed it, and the only thing that was really lost was my saved passwords, but that's a small thing.

I would upgrade from IE 6, but I can't. I have Windows 2000, and that's the highest version it will take.

OH MY GOD! FF2.0 HAS A SPELL CHECKER!!

haha! That was one of the first things I noticed too. So cool.

Also, turns out I didn't lose all my saved passwords. Just a couple of them. All my bookmarks are intact too :>

It is a bit prettier than Firefox 1.6 was, but I don't have fancy XP SP2 shiny graphics options or even SP SP1 for that matter, so the effect is a bit lost :/
That's a small thing though :) I like this version of Firefox better than Opera.

Aliotroph?

Saved passwords are a fantastically stupid idea! You'd better hope nobody who wants to be really mean to you gets anywhere near your comp. :p

Lol, Nobody uses my compy besides me :>
Besides, there really isn't much you could do with various forum accounts, Photobucket account, ect :C
