Hi people, I thought I just wanted to introduce you to Jane.

Jane Bond is an Schecter 007 Elite, a seven string guitar. She just arrived home after being in the customs from the last Friday. Now everything is solved and she just joined the others.
I´m currently setting it up to fit my needs and solve the classic string buzz... So far she sounds beautiful and I´m sure she´ll be happy to be here, at least as happy as I am right now.

My buddy Travis (Anima Morthor's lead guitarist) just got a Jackson RR3. It's black with grey tigerstripes. It's fucking gorgeous, and sounds great; has passive EMGs, floyd-rose, the whole shebang. Major upgrade from his Gibson Explorer.

It's hard to think that you have to work like hell when you have all that fancy stuff on the background.

Won´t you ever shut up, right?. In case you really want to know about anything of this, all the stuff on the background is my father´s living room equipment as the photograph was taken there: they´re in a vacation and this particular room is a great place to have your computer set up with plenty of space and compfort.
As for the equipment itself, the only thing that actually works is the Samsung TV, not actually flat. The Stereo is a Technics that can easily be half as old as... Go figure it out, it was the first CD reader we had back then!. The DVD unit is an Airis that came with "Marca", a sports newsletter and, finally all those PS2 games are mine but most of them are 2nd hand. The silver and blue sound card in the table is definitely part of my equipment... Oh, the furniture is all part of what my parents set up when they came to this flat like 24 years ago. It remains unchanged.
I guess that´s all a joke but in order to get that fancy stuff father had to work particularly hard considering the amount of things he already had to pay (not worth mentioning here) so, please, no rants about my family´s ownings as I am particularly sensitive with the matter.
Nomad: Indeed!. Jacksons are fine Metal guitars!!!. Is it an american made model?. I own a korean or japanese or something Jackson and I ended up blocking the tremolo and doing a pickup change... Still sounds great and has a very, very fast neck!.

After I get better with this here acoustic gee-tar, I'm going to buy a certain electric guitar I've got my eye on down at the local music shop. It's pretty, but I'll have to do some research to see if it's as awesome as it looks.
Your guitar, however, is beautiful. If you don't mind saying, how much did you pay for it?

You can try asking me a bit Rusty, maybe I know that guitar. Which model and brand is what you´ve set your eye on?. I´d say to get a mid series ESP, Jackson or, even better, Yamaha.
As for the price of this guitar, it is listed as a 900$ but sold for around 600$ in most Internet stores on the States. The best part is that none of this stores serves to Spain, neither Schecter has authorized dealers here so how did I get this guitar and how much I paid will remain a bit secret :)... Nah, serious, it was relatively easy to get in touch with a Schecter dealer and get this guitar. About how much I paid... A bit less of the price the stores are selling that and much lower than said in catalogues: around 515$, delivery from the States included.
The price is due to this guitar being a factory 2nd (guitars with little problems on the finish) and having some blemish and "2" stamp that I can´t actually see no matter how much I look for it... I had to pay some more in the customs as Spanish Postal Service retained it for being a "Valuable Item" and wanting to get some tax money from it.

Nice guitar. I only buy asian knockoffs nowadays. My last guitar is a Gibson clone, bought it for 20 bucks new, its actually a really nice one.

Some of the asian guitars are actually pretty nice like, say, these Jack and Danny things they´re throwing. Basically you get a very cheap guitar with what you can expect from a cheap guitar... I´d get one of these before grabbing a Squire or something.

What would be a good brand/model I could get for $200 or less?
And how much should I pay for an amp?

A Squire stratocaster.
And how much should I pay for an amp?
Around $90-100, unless you can find a decent one at a pawn shop cheaper or something.

While we're on the subject, I've been looking for a new guitar. I would like to get a flying V because those just kick so much ass XD. I don't know that much about guitars them selves but i can play pretty good. What should I look for when buying one??
[EDIT] By the way, AWESOME guitar. I've been wanting a 7 string guitar for a while but it would be awhile before i can go for that.

Basically you should find a guitar that sounds and plays nice to you. That´s all... I´d screw the looks because the more you play, the more different things you want so you always end up getting another guitar...
When trying a guitar, try also an amp you´d want to get (they´re as one when it comes to sound, in a very simplified way) or an amp you own. Serious, it all boils down to "Sounds good, plays easy".

heh, i played a show with a hot lixx guitar once. 2 dueling ones actually. it would have went over well if the lead at the time didn't cover himself in bubbletape and knock over all the asound equipment for the venue.

Nice, freakin makes me want to go jump on the drums dani ;)
Though a 7 string, you'd probably be making some nice ballads an stuff.
So I guess on the drums, maybe a little cymbal stuff, maybe some bongos and chimes heh

Yar, that it looks nice indeed, matey. And I don't know why I wrote that as if I were a pirate. :p
I'm going to be learning the guitar here soon(er or later). My dad's going to be teaching my sister and I, so it comes as cheap as free too. Or actually, just free.
Of course, we're not going to rush out and buy guitars with no rhyme or reason straightaway. And even if we do (which I imagine I at least will, I've wanted to learn to play for a long while) get to a point where getting our own guitars is something to consider, my dad has ten guitars (one which, aside from the wood casing, he put together himself), and methinks there's at least one or two that he doesn't use very often. :p
But of course in all seriousness, apparently there's some online shop where you can get guitars built in Korea that are really nice but are dirt-cheap for the quality they are. I don't know where this is, but he got two guitars from there recently, and I can tell you that we are not "well-off" people and certainly don't get expensive things very often (while we do have a lot of things, a vast majority of them have been bought over a long period of time; in fact, those two new guitars and the one he built are the only ones he's gotten in years methinks), so I reckon they were just that cheap.
But he was talking about perhaps getting those if we were to get serious about playing.
